But I'm still on you, I'm still on you.
BEYONCÉ
"A whole fucking kid, Solo."
She immediately busted out laughing. "You have to be lying!"
I shook my head no and ate a grape from the bowl on our coffee table. "Nope."
"Now she knows she could've said something before now. A kid is insane."
Of course I had to run and go tell my little sister. She was the only one I could talk to about the whole situation because I didn't want anybody in our business.
After I took the day to recover from all the alcohol I drank, I went to talk to her first thing in the morning the day after.
"I was thinking that but she had a whole explanation for me and it actually made sense. But like... a kid? I like her but a kid takes things to a whole different level of serious, but I guess thats kind of what she was saying when she explained to me why she didn't tell me in the first place."
"So are you going to be stepmommy or cut her off even though you've liked her for years and finally have a chance to have her?"
"Well when you say it like that..." It sounded like there was really only one choice. "I just feel like I'm too young, I don't know." I had barely just started my life.
"Well if she barely wanted to tell you about the kid I don't think she would let you meet him anytime soon, so I don't think that would be something you would have to worry about until you hopefully get more serious."
"I guess you have a point." I playfully rolled my eyes. "You might just be wiser than me."
"I know I am, and I'm your sister so I know what you want deep down even if you don't know it. You just need to be as serious about her as you claim to be, because you've been chasing this for years. What's your end goal with her?"
That was a good question. Knowing she has a kid and how reserved she is about even having feelings for me, this couldn't be just 'fun' while I'm in Houston.
"I mean only time will tell but if the universe wants us to get in a relationship, you know I'd love that. I just don't want to force things or have too high expectations." I was a strong believer if something is meant to be, it'll be. We already reconnected after all this time, if we were meant to date or even past that then we would.
She nodded. "I guess. But for all that, you'll have to call her. It's been damn near a week."
"You're so dramatic." I laughed. "It's been two days."
"For her its probably felt like forever since you guys usually talk often. Reach out to her."
She was right so I pulled out my phone and went to my messages. "I'll text. She might be busy."
I had to retype and type my message multiple times with the help of Solanges nagging before I finally settled on something simple. "Hey. Are you busy?"
I was surprised when she called me after barely a minute passed but I still answered and Solange silently forced me to put it on speaker. "Hey."
"Hey, Bey. Sorry, I saw your text but I'm driving so I just called you instead. What's up?" I could tell I was connected to her car from how she sounded.
"I just wanted to know if you were free to talk now or at any point today."
'Uh... I'm a little busy now but I should be free probably in the evening if that works for you."
"Of course. I'll let you get back to what you're doing and we can figure out where to meet later depending on the time." I had a feeling anytime she was "busy" it had to do with her son, but I might've been reaching.
