Would you believe me if I said I'm in love?
BEYONCÉ
I was finally taking Onika to the nice dinner we talked about before I came to Houston. This time, I knew without a doubt that it was a date.
Somehow, knowing it was a date made me even more nervous. I stressed for the entire day leading up to it. I wasn't sure about my outfit, the restaurant, or much of anything.
After we met at the studio and kissed, I texted her that same night to ask her when she would be free to be dinner. She told me a day, and I handled the rest.
I planned to take her to a nice ass Japanese restaurant. She sent me a picture of her eating sushi once when she was on break, so I knew she'd like the food.
Deciding on the restaurant was a lot easier than my outfit. Despite the fact that I went shopping specifically for dinner, it still took me hours and multiple outfits before I settled on an outfit that seemed decent enough. I was worried about over dressing, or underdressing, but I was eventually content with my outfit.
I wore a black knit sweater over a button up, with some dress pants and a leather jacket just incase it got cold. Deciding on my outfit took so long that I barely had time to do my hair before I had to leave. Getting a reservation at that restaurant wasn't easy, and I knew they wouldn't mind giving up our table if we were late.
Earlier in the day, I made a bouquet of flowers myself and wrapped it in light brown paper instead of the plastic it came in, just to make it a little more special. I knew she liked pink so I got pink roses and pink hydrangeas, with white roses and random green plans for some contrast.
I'd been waiting for an opportunity to take Onika on a date for years, so I was going to do everything in my power to make it as special as she deserved.
Onika already knew what time our reservation was so I texted her that I was on my way, and got in my rented Hellcat to drive over to her house.
My hands shook as I drove to her house, and blasting Future wasn't doing its job of helping with my nerves. I was overthinking like crazy, and it got even worse once I actually pulled up to Onikas house. I was so scared of fucking up the one thing I wanted for so long, but I did my best to stay calm as I walked up to her door holding the flowers.
When I got to her door, I took a deep breath and then rang her doorbell. I heard noise that sounded like she was talking to somebody, which explained why it took her a minute to come to the door.
My jaw may as well have dropped all the way to the floor when she finally opened the door. She looked beautiful. Past that. Breathtaking.
She was wearing a long black lace dress that fell to her ankles, and a low cut that showed more of her chest than I'd ever seen. Her hair was crimped, and her makeup was done more than just lashes and something light, all of which was new to me.
I all of a sudden forgot what I was so worried about in the first place.
I was so stunned that I stumbled over my words before I got myself together. "Wow. You look amazing."
She smiled, "Thank you. You look great too, I was worried I was going to be overdressed."
"No, you're dressed perfectly for where we're going. These are for you." I handed her the ewww flowers and she happily took them.
"Aww! You're too sweet, thank you. These are so cute, pink is my favorite."
I chuckled at how she said it like it was new information. "I know."
