Things were slowly but surely going back to normal.
Only a day had passed, but we were both making an effort to alleviate any awkwardness and get things back to how they were before. Without the cuddling and stuff.
We studied together, and she got me to hold onto her phone like before. Apparently that was the only way she could productively study.
My confusion about her wasn't getting better being around her, if anything it was only getting worse now that I was aware of it.
I knew avoiding her wasn't beneficial, but it was also hard to get certain thoughts out of my head being around her sweet charismatic self.
The next morning, I woke her up for class to try to keep some of our routine but we didn't get lunch together with the group after class. That might've just been because Bey was a tiny bit mad at Robby and Kelly and pretending like she wasn't.
Right when I walked in the room from my last class of the day, Bey sent me a text like she knew my schedule.
Bey 🥰🩷: don't change out of your clothes yet i have something for you and im like two minutes away
Oh??
I wasn't sure what that meant but I responded that I would and then sat at my desk waiting for her. I was nervous but thankfully she came into the room pretty quickly, and the only thing in her hand was a piece of paper.
"Hey." She stopped for a second drop her backpack down by her bed and then came over to me. "I saw some people handing out flyers when I went to get food, and it seemed like it was perfect for you. I had to rush over here because I spent way too long eating and now it starts in like an hour, but it's this Christian club thing." She was rambling like I usually did, it was cute.
"Aw, thank you." That was actually really kind. She handed me the flyer and it started reading over it. It pretty much seemed like the youth group we'd have at my church for the teens every Wednesday, but for college kids.
"Of course. I think being around more like minded people could help you figure out your... situation."
I chuckled at the way she was tip-toeing around it. "It starts in forty five minutes?" That didn't seem like enough time or mentally prepare myself.
She made a 'yikes' face. "I know that's soon, but I can go with you if that'll make you more comfortable. I'm free the rest of the day."
That would've been nice, but I had to do it on my own. I needed to learn to be independent. "How about you just walk me? I think that'll be fine, if you don't mind."
She nodded. "Alright. If you want me to stay and wait outside for you, I can do that too. Whatever you want."
"I appreciate that, but walking me is already more than enough."
She dropped the topic and started doing her own thing so I did too. There wasn't much I could do but wait around. I contemplated changing my outfit because I was wearing jean shorts and a t-shirt, and I wasn't sure how appropriate they would be, but they weren't as short as some of the shorts I saw people wearing on my way to class. Plus, it was summertime in Texas.
Ten minutes before the time it was supposed to start, we left our room and started walking to where the meeting was. It was in the same building as my lecture class.
I wasn't sure what to expect as we walked up, but thankfully Bey walked me all the way inside which helped with my nerves a lot.
I found a seat in the back because I was mainly just planning on observing for the day. People were walking in, and some people were talking in groups. Everybody seemed very... normal. The girls were wearing crop tops and short shorts, and some of the guys looked like the typical one that would come up to me for my Instagram. They didn't seem like getting dressed in the morning stressed them out like I did.
