A few nights later, he was watching Gemma. Watching her walk home from the bus station a few blocks away. Her heels click against the sidewalk in a powerful stride. She normally didn't walk this fast. She must have found his gift he left her. He walked far enough back and at a leisurely pace for her not to notice. For someone on edge, she sure didn't know someone was following her. She went into her apartment building, and he went into the building next to it. He had to practically strong arm the owner to let him rent out the few rooms that gave him a perfect view into Gemma's apartment. He ended up paying triple what rent was worth and put down a hefty deposit. Not that money mattered to him. He walked into his empty space and sat in the only chair on the floor. Hidden just enough in the shadows no one could see him even if they knew where to look. Her light flicked on, but he couldn't see in her room as well. She had gotten thicker curtains. "Look who is playing the game."

He waited until her lights turned off then went through his phone, looking at pictures he had taken of her, and ones he had stollen from online. After a little over an hour and no movement, he went next door. He had to see her one more time before he left. He whistled on his way up the stairs and stopped when he got to her hallway. He checked that no one was around, and slid the key into her lock. He went to turn it, but it wouldn't budge. "Touché" He turned on his heel and left, plotting the next move.

Gemma sat staring at the clock. It was like six would never arrive. Her phone vibrated and she pulled open her drawer, covering her movements from prying eyes. "No angel action?" from Shelly.

"Nope, must have seen me buy the mace and brass knuckles."

"You wouldn't know what to do with either of those. Want to go out tonight? Celebrate a going away party for the stalker?"

Gemma looked around and made sure no one was watching her. She didn't need to be pulled into the manager's office for being on the phone. "We go out every Friday night. You know that."

"There is this new club that just opened. Let's skip the bar and look in a new market."

Gemma snickered. "Deal. Meet up at my place and help me pick out something to wear."

"Be there around 7 hott stuff."

Gemma rolled her eyes. She closed the drawer and glanced at the clock on her computer. She wanted to squeal, it was quitting time.
