They got to club early enough that the line wasn't too long. Gemma could hear the beats thumping from outside the club. Shelly had already turned on her charm and was talking to the guys in front of them. Gemma was being more shy than usual. This was her first time out since weird hand broke into her apartment. They payed the doorman and the guys bought the first round of drinks. Gemma nailed the drink back and ordered another.
"Whoa girl, you trying to get swaashted?"
"No, uh maybe. I just feel nervous about the whole bed sheets thing."
One of the guys butted in. "That sounds like a very interesting story."
Shelly, always the attention hog spoke up. "She had some guy break into her apartment and take a nap in her bed."
The dark haired man stood closer to Gemma. "You need someone to keep you company tonight?"The gull of this guy. "No, I changed the locks and bought a shot gun, but thanks for the offer."
The guy smiled, seeing the imaginary wall go up. "It's cool, how bout a dance though?"Shelly elbowed Gemma and almost made her spill her drink.
"Sure."
She set her drink down and he took her hand, pulling her in between bodies out to the dance floor. "My name is Nathan by the way."
"Gemma"
Nathan turned around and started to dance close to her. He whispered in her ear, "Pretty name for a pretty girl."
She danced with him, being polite, but not letting her body get too close to his. She needed another drink or five to put up with his unoriginal lines. She spotted Shelly with some new guy grinding like gears in a watch with each other. Looks like she was going to need quite a few drinks tonight. She headed back to the bar, alone and finished off the drink she had left and ordered another. Clubbing really wasn't her scene. She wasn't that good at dancing, and the loud music made having a conversation ruthless. Shelly came back to the bar long enough to order a drink and take a few sips before heading back out again, trying on new partners.
That was one of the good things about going out with Shelly. Shelly bought over half of Gemma's drinks and she didn't even realize it. She was four drinks in, two of hers and two of Shelly's when the bathroom called. She walked to the bathroom and did her business then washed her hands. She looked at herself in the mirror. Yeah she was right at that spot where one more and she would be drunk. Which in reality that meant she was drunk already but in denial. She washed her hands and headed back to her drink, and hopefully one from Shelly.
She sat down back in her seat and threw back her glass. Then eyed Shelly's. She looked over her shoulder to see Shelly all over Nathan and slid Shelly's drink over in front of her. She stirred the ice and took a sip. After this I should be drunk. A guy sat down next to her and ordered a drink. He glanced over to her but she realized it was more than a glance. She turned her head to meet his gaze and say something witty, but something felt a little off.
Yep the alcohol was hitting her full force now. When he spoke she was having a hard time concentrating on his face.
"You been here long? You don't look like your having fun."
Her face was numb and she was having a hard time moving it around to talk. "I'm the wingman for the night. Well wingwoman." She looked over her shoulder to find Shelly but couldn't spot her. "That bitch" she muttered.
