In the cab, I quickly tried to bury the cooch text on the convo with Aaron. "No that wasn't meant for you. Nor will you be getting into my pants. You've been friend zoned."
"Ouch that hurts Gemma. Any way I can get out of here?"
Before I could even reply, he had sent another text. I looked out the window to see how far I was from the club and then read it. "Look, I shave too. It's not that big of a deal. And I don't plan on staying in the friend zone after tonight. Sorry to ruin the surprise."
I was about to hit reply when the cab stopped, right in front of the club. I paid and got out, switching the convo over to Shelly to text her I was here as I waited in line.
"I'm at the bar."
"How many drinks deep are you?"
"Fourish?"
That meant she was almost at the point of finding someone to go home with. It was an early night for her without me stealing all of her drinks. I text her back. "At least stay until we can take a few shots together?" She didn't respond and I knew what that meant. I was going to be flying solo. My plan was to hope Shelly was still at the bar and get a few drinks in me before I text Aaron that I was here. Hopefully he wouldn't spot me before then.
By the time I was almost to the door, Shelly was stumbling out. I called to her and she pulled the hunk of a man my way. I really didn't want to beg her to stay but right now I was feeling a little nervous. "Shell, stay just for one round with me please?"
"Can't babe. I don't want to miss my ride." She patted the guys arm she was holding on to and tried to wink at me but was failing miserably. She then whisper yelled. "Look at his fingers Gem." She jerked his hand my way and I rolled my eyes at her. "Well have fun, and text me in the morning." She waved to me sloppily and and the hunk pulled her off to the parking lot.
Flying solo it is. I made my way into the club and headed straight to the bar. I ordered two shots and slammed them down in a hurry. I checked my phone for the time. ten forty five and a text from Aaron. "be there a little after 11." That made me feel a little better. I ordered another drink, telling the bar tender to surprise me. Big mistake.
A guy came up and sat beside me and his opening line was. "So you like surprises? I got one in my pants I can show you." He wiggled his eyebrows at me. If it wasn't for his horrendous pick up line, he might actually be okay. He was well built but not too big. Dark ruffled hair, dark eyes, and full lips. The bartender comes back with my drink and I knocked it back in one go. I turned back to the guy who is still interested in me after being slightly ignored.
"That was the worst pick up line ever. And, I'm not that kind of girl. If you're looking for a fun time, try someone else."
His smile slides down a bit. "You know, people usually go to bars to get drunk."
"And they go to clubs to dance. So looks like neither of us are doing what we are suppose to be." The alcohol was kicking in sooner than it normally did for me. Joe must have given me something good.
"We can fix that. Dance with me?" I looked over to Joe, jostling bottles and glasses and down to my empty one. It was going to be a minute before he got back to me. I looked over to the guy and he held his hand out, inviting me with a heartfelt smile.
"No funny business." He made an x over his heart and led me out to the dance floor.
He started to move and I followed his lead the best I could. He could move his body well. When he saw that I couldn't keep up with him he slowed down and started a conversation.
"Why are you here alone?" His hot breath hit my ear and I knew it wasn't intentional, but man did it do things to me. Things I wasn't expecting. I leaned over to him, "My friend left me, but I'm meeting another here. What about you?""Here with my friends. Most have ditched out too."
The song ended and he stopped moving and looked at me for a moment. "You want to keep me company while I smoke?"
I looked back at the now crowded bar. Fuck it. I could use a smoke, and it didn't seem like he was trying to make a move on me any more. I nodded my head and he took my hand, leading me to the back. I had never been on this side of the club. But then again I usually sit at the bar. We headed over to a door that opened up the stairs. I held on to his hand a little tighter, not wanting to fall onto my face as we made our way outside to the roof.
