I looked to Mike for more dishes and he was pulling the stopper up. Now that there wasn't anything to do, I found myself getting nervous. I haven't been around the opposite sex sober in a long time. Before I could make a fool out of myself he spoke.
"Look, I want to apologize about last night. The break up is still fresh and Jared thought it would be a good idea for me to get out and take my mind off of things. I usually don't do pick up lines or one night stands." He was rubbing the back of his neck for a moment then took my hand. My mouth fell open slightly in shock.
"I really do like you, and I don't want you to be a rebound. I'm more than okay with being friends for now, until I can get over this. But expect me to want more with you in the future."
That was the best thing I have ever heard come out of a man's mouth. Complete honesty and thoughtfulness for me. For a possible us. It only made me like him more. I took his hand and pulled him closer to me, wrapped my hands around his neck and pulled his head down to me. On my tip toes, I brushed my lips against his, pulling at his bottom lip with my own. It was short lived and that is how I wanted it. I pulled away, leaving him slightly stunned.
"I would like that friend, but right now, I need to make sure I don't have to burn my couch." Shelly's giggles had died down and that was dangerous. I pulled Mike by his hand out into the living room. If Shelly had made a moment out of me, I want to return the favor if I can.
She was in his lap, making out with him, his hand up her shirt, and one down her shorts gripping her ass.
"Damn dinner and a show!"
Shelly pulled away not as quickly as I had hoped. Jared cleared his throat and readjusted himself not so discreetly.
"I can meet you at your place later?" They both stood and this was Shelly giving him the boot so she wouldn't be tempted. Jared got a cocky grin on his face. "Whatever my princess wants." He kissed her, much more than a good bye kiss. Sloppy sounds and tongue. Gross. Then he walked over to me. I was still holding Mike's hand but that didn't stop Jared from pulling me away and giving me a hug. A little too close hug, because I could feel his not so mini me on my stomach, then kissed my cheek.
"We should do this again. I had fun." He whispered in my ear. I'm not going to lie. If I was in for a quick slick I would be on him. I knew why Shelly liked him so much now. He was that kind of hot you were embarrassed to say you liked in front of others.
When He left, I was still kinda in shock. I turned to Shelly who only smirked at me, knowing what I was thinking, and then to Mike. He didn't seem surprised one bit by his friend, but was waiting on my reaction, to see how well I could handle myself.
I cleared my throat. "I'll walk you to the door."
We turned and I grabbed his hand again, like a claim that he would be mine one day. I'm not going to lie and say it wasn't awkward after what Jared had just done. It was hella awkward. I opened the door and he stepped out, then turned to me. He smiled at me like I amused him.
"Next time, it can just be dinner, and I will leave the show at home." He tilted his head to Jared, waiting by the elevator. "Just hang out like friends do, no funny business. And you can tell me your woes." He kissed my cheek, being a gentleman of sorts and left space between our bodies. He turned to walk away, throwing over his shoulder, "Don't think I forgot about last night."
I leaned into the door frame, resting my weight against it and watched Mike take a few steps more before closing the door and locking it.
"What the fuck Shel?"
Shelly burst out laughing. "Fuckin' great wasn't it?"
"That guy had a summer sausage in his pants and rubbed it on me. Jesus!"
"I know! I'm gonna see him tonight definitely."
I plopped down next to her on the couch and pulled my legs up indian style. I sighed. "What am I gonna do Shel? I have Aaron and now Mike."
Shelly wasn't the best person to ask advice for in this situation, but I really didn't have any one else. I pulled out my phone and looked at the pictures of Aaron. The ones without his face.
"I heard you talk to Mike. He said he just wants to be friends for now. Just use Aaron as a rebound."
I looked over to Shelly. "And what if I end up liking Aaron more, I really don't want to hurt Mike." I paused for a moment. "Why these nigga's got to come out of the wood works all at once?"
Shelly just smiled at me. I wasn't racist at all and hardly used the n word except when frustrated. "Because you finally stopped batting them away." She reached out and set a gentle hand on my leg. "Mike friend zoned you, so treat him like one. As for Aaron, you haven't even seen his face. Just let it progress a little further with him before you decide anything. You haven't devoted yourself to either one, haven't slept with either one. Just give it another week or so."
I put my hand over hers, about to tell her thank you and she opened her mouth again. "That's enough of that for now. I need to go home and get ready to meet my summer sausage."
I just rolled my eyes at her and watched her leave. I picked up my phone and set the alarm from the app. I love this app.
