Chapter 80
Wednesday December 20th
Mallory's POV

"Mason!"

At the sound of his name, Mason came rushing full speed into my bedroom. His white button up was messily tucked into his black pants, the top buttons were still undone, and a look of panic flashed across his face as he threw my door open.

"Are you okay?" I furrowed my eyebrows at him, holding the straps of my dress so that they don't fall down.

"I thought you fell or something" Mason explained briefly, looking relieved that it didn't seem to be a case of that. I chuckled at him, but nonetheless appreciated his worry and determination to get here as soon as possible.

"No, I'm okay" I giggled. "Can you just help me with my zipper?"

"Oh yeah sure" Mason shrugged casually, and I turned around so he could do that for me. He lightly tossed my hair over my shoulder to make sure it didn't get caught and I heard the sound of the zipper dragging up my back, the fabric getting tighter as it drew to a close. "Good?"

"Yes, thank you" I smiled, fixing my hair briefly in the mirror. "I'm ready to go when you are"

"Alright, give me five" Mason answered, which I figured he needed because he was definitely not ready to walk out the door right this second. I nodded and he went back to his room, so I headed out to the living area with my things since the heels and the shape of my dress slowed me down.

I wasn't used to wearing something that looked so expensive, so when I passed by the full-length mirror again in Mason's apartment it was a bit of a shock. I loved the dress that I was wearing, I thought it was beautiful the moment Veronica laid it out amongst all of her other options, but it was still rare to see myself in one like it. It's a rarity that I dress up to begin with, especially in a gown.

I tried on all of the dresses that V offered to share for the night, and I knew this one was it the first second the fabric was on my body. It was gorgeous and I believed it was the outfit that fit the theme of Classic Christmas as best as possible. A darker shade of red, the dress was form fitting and shaped my figure perfectly like a glove. It's almost like it was handmade just for me, hitting the floor at the perfect length so it didn't drag along. It was covered top to bottom in sequins which gave it a sparkling texture, more so when it hit the light at the right angle. The scoop neckline and sleeveless design was paired with a silver necklace to add another layer to the look, and I was in love with it.

I briefly waited for Mason, staring at the artwork on the walls instead of at my phone. It was secured inside my clutch and I felt no reason to take it out when he wasn't going to be long. I was right, he didn't take long to join me in the living room.

"You look nice" I complimented. He was wearing a simple tuxedo, but it's not like I've seen Mason dressed up this much before. I think that was going to be the most entertaining part of my night, seeing all of the other doctors in something other than our typical scrubs. I've grown so used to all of us matching day in and day out, it was going to be a bit different to see so many different colors and styles crammed into one room.

"You do too" Mason returned with a smile, shoving his phone into his pocket, before quirking an eyebrow at me with a playful glare. "Are you sure you don't want to just order take out and sit on the couch?"

"Mason!" I laughed and rolled my eyes at him.

"I know I know, charity" Mason held his hands up in surrender, then turned the doorknob, eager to leave for somebody who doesn't want to go. He held the door opened and motioned for me to exit, so I did, and I watched as he locked it behind us.
