"Who's coming?" She asks.
"WICKED. Listen, I know things aren't okay right now, but we need to be. I'm not gonna ask you to be mine still, because there's probably no point anyway."
"What do you mean 'no point'? There's no anger in her tone, just confusion.
"I think Ava has something terrible planned." A loud boom catches my ear. Shuck. The guards come charging down the hallway, yelling things I can't understand over the ringing in my ears. They must have busted the door down. I pull myself out of my trance. I need to get out of here. "Lock the door, Kenzie! Lock the door, and hide!" I yell at her as I race down the hall.

There's nowhere to go.

I'm pulled back from staring at a dead end, brought to my knees, then darkness surrounds my vision.
I wake up with a huge headache. I know this room. "No!" I scream. This shuck lockup! Minho is in the cell across from me. He sits on the floor with his knees up to his chest. "Where's the others?"
"Right here," I hear Thomas's voice.
"And here." Aris.
"What about the girls, and the Gladers?"
"They didn't do anything to get locked up, did they?" Minho says, the anger bleeding through his words.
"Neither did we," I snap back at him.
"What do we do now?" Aris's voice shakes.
"Tommy, you're the man with the plan."
"Not this time. We're just gonna have to wait it out." I can tell he's frustrated.
Minho stands up, and punches the wall. "I need someone's face!" He repeats to hammer it with his fists.
"You're not doing yourself any good, mate," I roll my eyes.
"Shut your hole, mate!" He mocks at me. "We wouldn't be in this if it wasn't for you and your shuck girlfriend calling us back from Paradise!"
"You think you were free? You think WICKED was just going to let you go? You think they didn't have a tracking device, or that Ava had no idea where she sent you? We were pawns, Minho. Just to manipulate you to coming back, they made us think it was our choice, like we were doing you a favor. We weren't the ones who asked for you, they were! I don't need any of you!" I'm to the point of yelling, now. I'm just really pissed. I have no idea what's happened go Kenzie, or what's going to happen to us. And Minho sassing me right now isn't helping. "Forget it. Forget you. You only care about yourself, I don't know why they made you leader in the first place. Probably so you would keep the group moving, instead of staying back to help the dying."
"It's not my fault that any of those people died!" He fights back.
"Really? You almost got the lot of us killed, and your fingers cut off because you 'needed a face' to punch."
"Dumb slinthead, I don't need to defend myself against a lovestruck boy who misses his girlfriend."
"Really? The reason we went to talk to Ava was because you were upset that your not-even-girlfriend wasn't looking at you right!"
We sit in silence for the next ten minutes or so. Sweat beads down my head as I wait for the arrival of anybody. Minho is still staring at me like he wants to rip my head off. Yeah, what I said was kind of rude, but can you blame me?
I hear the sound of the elevator door opening, and footsteps approaching.
It's just two guards.
They both stand in front of Minho's cell. Figures. "Are you buggin' officers here to let us go?" They don't answer me. I guess not. I hate the silent treatment they give. There's litteraly no point. "Are you at least going to tell us what happened to the others?" Nothing. "Or what's going to happen to us?" Still nothing. Why do I even bother...
