All four of us head up to the Training room. Some people have already started. I walk over to the weights, and begin lifting a ten pound dumbell.
My heart becomes heavy as I look over at my fellow Gladers. We're all going to forget each other... I feel as if all of this is my fault. If my brain had been more compatible, maybe we wouldn't have to do this. "I was so weak." I didn't mean to say it out loud; it just kind of happened.
Thomas looks over at me, "What?"
"Forget it, nevermind."
"Are you talking about when you died, but then rose from the grave because you were so strong? Yeah, you're such a woos," he rolls his eyes. "Why are you always saying klunk like that? You're doing your best."
"That's it, I'm actually not doing anything. I'm just sitting here, waiting for something to happen. I'm letting WICKED take us back to the Maze. Everyone looks to me as their leader now. What happened to 'Thomas, you're the real leader'? Let's go back to that. I can't shucking take this anymore. I'm not a leader, I'm a tell everyone what to do even though I don't know what I'm doing...er...person."
"You think I know how to be a leader anymore than you do? That's cute. I recall doing everything that everyone told me not to, that's rebellion, not leadership."
"It's something, Thomas. At least you're doing something."
"Why can't you just take credit for the good things, and quit beating yourself up for the bad?"
"Sounds like great leadership," I say sarcastically.
"Exactly. You wouldn't do that because you're too good of a leader," he pauses for a second, "Oh, I stumped you didn't I?" He laughs.
"No, I just don't have time for your ignorance."
"Awe no I got you. I got you," he calls back as he moves on to a different training section.
I shake my head, continuing on with my work outs.
