I hear the door open, and I swiftly turn my head towards it. Ava.

"Well, that was very...unexpected."

"Yeah." My voice sounds nasaly from the tubes shoved up my nose.

"Yet successful."

"So I'm done?" I say as I sit up.

"For now. But that is not important at the moment. Newt."

I raise an eyebrow at her. "Can I see him?"

"I wouldn't really call him 'Newt' anymore."

I hate how she ignores my every word. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"The Flare is taking over his brain-"

"How?"

She takes a deep breath, obviously annoyed. "You do recall that you just recently died..."

"Yeah, but it doesn't move in within, like what, two hours?"

She laughs, "Two hours? That's how long you think it's been? A week, McKenzie." I stare blankly at her. "Well, I guess you should get down there, then."

"To Newt?" I ask as I take the tubes out of my nose, and rip the needles out of my arms.

"Yes, to Newt. Please follow me."

It takes me a second to catch my balance as I hop off of the table and follow behind Ava. A whole week...

She presses Below Ground Level. We stand awkwardly in the elevator as the silence kills my every nerve.

We finally reach Below Ground Level, and I'm aching to see him. We walk straight forward, then make a right. The room is gray and dim. Gloomy.

I hear loud sobbing, and my only guess is that it must be Newt. I feel my expressionless face now drop to sadness. I get a sudden feeling that this isn't going to go very well. "Newt, you have a visitor," Ava says in an irritatingly calm tone.
I look into the square room in which he lies. It's small, and there seems to be nothing restraining him. Why is he just laying there? I step forward, but Ava grabs my arm, and shakes her head. She reaches out her hand, and taps the air. Well, I thought it was the air. There's some sort of purple force field that only appears when touched.
"Newt," Ava says more dominantly. He rolls over to face us, and he looks surprised for a second. I smile at him, but he doesn't smile back. He looks enraged, actually.
"You think I'm that thick? I know what that is! It's another one of your bloody test props! She's not real!" He stands up, and walks towards the invisible wall. "I will destroy you once I get out of here..." He snarls as he stares into my eyes.
"I can assure you, she is real," Ava says with no specific tone in her voice.
"Newt, the fake Kenzie would only work if the real one was alive, remember?" I say as I step closer to him. I can see the darkness in his eyes. the hate.
"They saved your-...her brain waves. Remember?" He says in a mocking tone. "Get. Out."
"Newt, plea-"
"Get out. Get out. Get out!" He yells as he shakes his head side to side.
"We will return momentarily. Don't think you're in charge of our visits. You're the contained one, if you didn't notice," Ava smirks at Newt. She turns to leave, but I stay, staring at his face. I want to say something to make him believe me, but I don't know what.
He growls and punches the force field between us. I follow Ava seconds later.
Where are we going?
