Two hours.

Two whole hours of just lying in my bed. Alone. Alone with my thoughts. Alone with the fact that Newt is dying. That he doesn't even love me...I need to get out of here. I stand up, and walk back and forth across my room. Minho told me to stay here...

I walk over to the side of my room that I've never noticed before. I guess I've been too busy. It's just a t.v. How do I operate this thing? There's a glass rectangle on a couch behind where I stand. I pick it up, and take a seat. I tap all over the screen. "Turn on," I growl.

"Welcome." I jump at the sudden sound. "What would you like to watch?" The glass pad lights up with pictures. It's the Maze...

I click on a clip dated around three years ago. The t.v. shines with the brightness of the sun. Then it happens. The sound. The loud alarm that declared a new Greenie was arriving. The clip automatically speeds up to half an hour later. The Box opens, and reveals a dark skinned boy. Who is that?
"Alby," the voice says, "Stage 1, subject 1, Group A."
I've never heard of Alby. "Um, take me back to-" the t.v. changes back to the selection screen, "Yeah, that..."

I scroll down, and find Newt. I select the image, and wait for it to start.

The sound of the Greenie Alarm blares, and Alby runs to the Box. He reaches his arm in, and helps Newt climb out. I tilt my head at the sight of him. Newt. Sixteen-year-old Newt.

The Newt that didn't remember me. The Newt that had proposed to me, and then decided it'd be best to leave me. To forget who I was. All to protect me.

I finally got him back. Now I'm losing him all over again. I close my eyes to prevent any tears from building up.

"Welcome to hell," I hear Alby say to Newt. I open back up my eyes, and stare at him. His body shakes with fear and confusion.

"Who are you?" He replies in a demanding tone.

"Names' Alby. And I have no idea."

"Yeah," he chuckles, "Neither do I." He scans the Glade with wide eyes. They're glossed over with tears. I had forgotten how scared everyone was.

How scared I was.

"You remember your name?"

"Umm..." He stands idly for a moment. Alby's eyes fixated on him. "Newt. My name is Newt." WICKED changed our names. They renamed us once we joined them. I still don't have my name. Maybe it's Kenzie. Maybe it's not. I don't care to remember. I like it.

"Welcome to the Glade, Newt."

"The Glade?"

"Well, that's what I call it."

"Why?"

"I-" he squints, "don't know...All I know is: those doors close at night. Once a week I get fresh supplies. And, apparently, once a month, a new slinthead."

"Slinthead?"

"I don't know, Newt," he says, kind of rudely. "It's planted in my head. Like your name in yours."

"What's out there?"

"I don't know. I haven't left."

"Why?"

"Why do you ask so many questions?"

"Didn't you?" He just stares at Newt. "You're alone, aren't you?"

"They sent you up with a blanket. Let's set up your sleeping area."

I watch for hours on end. I look at the time on the little glass screen.
5:00
Wow. I'm starving. I pause the t.v, and lean my head back. Minho said I could come down for dinner. Why am I taking orders from Minho?
