Elizabeth
Two days passed since I became a Death Eater. I left Malfoy Manor two afternoons ago and sat at the edge of the drive, crying my eyes out. A little while later, my parents came out and we Apperated back to our mansion. My father hasn't spoken to me since I yelled at him, and my mother tried to console me, as well as explain to me how to fix the Vanishing Cabinet.
Now I was in my room once again, this late afternoon, laying on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I hadn't come out of my bedroom since I got the Mark. My mother brought my breakfast, lunch and dinner up to me, trying to get me to come down, but I refused.
It was Christmas Day now, and the Malfoys usually came over to celebrate with us. Despite everything going on, Lucius being in Azkaban and such, Narcissa and Draco as well as Bellatrix were coming for dinner and drinks. Great.
The last thing I wanted to do was see Draco. What Voldemort told me replayed over and over in my head; "He's hopelessly in love with you."
I tried not to think about that. Voldemort was obviously bluffing. But, then again, he didn't seem like the prankster type. Draco and I were friends once, when we were really little. But ever since we were about 10 or 11, he's hated me. And I don't know why, I didn't do anything wrong. Just one day, he made fun of my dress and ever since then, he's teased me.
He definitely hated me. It was obvious. He couldn't have feelings for me, like Voldemort said. And plus, how would Voldemort even know anyways? But then I remembered how he picked his way through my mind while he gave me the Mark. He probably did the same thing with Draco. He could've seen something, something that gave him the idea that-
No.
It was all malarkey. Voldemort was full of crap.
A knock sounded at my door now, startling me out of my thoughts about Draco.
"Come in." I said, sitting up.
The door opened and my mum stood there, holding a tray with a sandwich and a large glass of milk.
She closed the door, then walked over to me.
I thanked her as she handed me the tray. She sat across from me on my bed and watched me eat.
After a few minutes of quiet, she spoke up.
"How are you?"
I shrugged.
"Could be better. But, what are you gonna do?" I answered, trying to sound casual and carefree, but I know it just came out sounding rude.
She gave me a long look, then put her hand behind her jeans pocket, pulling something out. It was a small, black box.
"This is your early Christmas present." She said.
I took the box from her and hesitantly opened it up. Inside was a bright white crystal set in gold with a gold chain.
"Mum, it's beautiful!" I breathed.
She smiled.
"My grandmother gave this to my mum when she was your age. Then when I was your age, my mum gave it to me. Do you know why?"
I shook my head.
"Because my grandfather and my father were Death Eaters, and they had to get the Mark. They loved their husbands so much they did something they didn't want to do out of love."
