It was a calm evening at the Stark Tower, or as Tony liked to call it, "Casa de Stark." You were lounging on the couch in the living room, flipping through a magazine. Peter sat on the floor in front of you, cross-legged, scrolling through his phone. It was a rare moment of peace in your hectic lives, but, of course, peace never lasted long in a place like this.
Tony Stark strutted into the room with his trademark swagger, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and his tablet in the other. He stopped in his tracks when his sharp eyes caught sight of something on your neck.
"What's that?" He asked, narrowing his gaze as he pointed at the faint red mark peeking out from your collar.
You froze. "What's what?"
"That," Tony said, setting down his coffee and walking over. "Is that... a hickey?!"
You immediately slapped your hand over the mark, cheeks flaming. "No! It's-uh, just a bug bite, Dad. Don't worry."
Peter, who had been in his own little world, frowned at the word "bug." Without thinking, he muttered out, "I'm an arachnid, not a bug."
The room fell into dead silence.
Your eyes widened in horror as you turned to Peter, who only realized what he said a second too late. His face turned a deep shade of crimson, and his head whipped up, he opened his mouth to backtrack, but the damage was done.
"Peter!" You hissed, mortified, your hand flying to your face.
Tony's expression shifted from confusion to slow, dawning realization. He raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a dangerous smile.
"Run," Tony said, his voice calm but laced with menace.
Peter shot up from the floor like a startled deer. "Mr. Stark, I can explain-"
"No need to explain," Tony interrupted, cracking his knuckles for dramatic effect. "You've got a ten-second head start, kid."
"Dad, no!" You exclaimed, trying to step between them.
"Nine."
Peter panicked. "It was an accident, I swear! I mean, it wasn't an accident, but it wasn't like that! I mean-"
"Eight."
Peter took off toward the elevator.
"Dad, stop!" You protested, grabbing his arm.
Tony gently but firmly moved you aside. "Sweetheart, I love you, but this is between me and Bug Boy."
"Seven."
Peter yelped as he fumbled with the elevator controls. When the elevator didn't respond fast enough, he sprinted toward the stairs instead.
"Six."
"Dad!"
"Don't 'Dad' me," Tony said, already moving toward the stairs.
You ran after him, trying to block his way. "It's not his fault! I mean, it is, but not in the way you think!"
Tony paused, crossing his arms. "Oh, really? Care to elaborate?"
"Uh..." you stammered, realizing you didn't have a convincing excuse.
Meanwhile, Peter's voice echoed faintly from the stairwell. "Babe, help!"
Tony smirked. "That's what I thought."
"Dad, please don't kill him!"
Tony patted your shoulder. "I'll try not to, but no promises."
He disappeared into the stairwell, leaving you to chase after him.
---
Meanwhile, in the stairwell
Peter was sprinting down flight after flight of stairs, adrenaline pumping through his veins.
"Why did I say that? Why did I say that?" He muttered to himself, cringing as the moment replayed in his head.
Just as he reached the 20th floor, he heard Tony's voice booming from above. "You can't outrun me, Parker! I have repulsors!"
Peter groaned. "Why didn't I just thought of swing out of here?"
As if on cue, he shot a web to the next landing and swung down, narrowly avoiding Tony's grasp.
---
You finally managed to catch up to them in the stairwell. By then, Tony had cornered Peter on the 10th floor.
"Look, Mr. Stark," Peter panted, holding up his hands in surrender. "I-uh-I like your daughter, okay? A lot! And I promise I'll treat her with respect and-"
Tony held up a hand to silence him. "Relax, kid. I'm not going to actually hurt you."
Peter blinked. "You're... not?"
Tony smirked. "Nah. But I did needed to make you sweat a little. Call it a rite of passage."
Peter exhaled in relief, but then Tony added, "But if I ever find another 'bug bite' on her, we're going to have a very different conversation."
Peter nodded frantically. "Got it. No more bug bites!"
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "Can we please stop calling it that?"
Tony grinned, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. "Sure, kiddo. But just so you know, next time, I'm deploying the whole Iron Man suit."
Peter paled. "Noted."
With that, Tony walked off, leaving you and Peter alone.
"I'm so sorry," Peter mumbled, looking at you sheepishly.
You sighed, but a small smile tugged at your lips. "You're lucky he likes you. Come on, let's get out of here before he changes his mind."
Peter nodded, taking your hand as you both made your way back upstairs.
From somewhere in the distance, Tony's voice rang out. "I'm always watching, Parker!"
Peter groaned. "This is going to haunt me forever, isn't it?"
"Pretty much," you said with a laugh, squeezing his hand.
