Chapter 18

Sabrina’s POV

The room smelled like chemicals and blood when I walked in. Blood and chemicals, the things that built me. I didn’t see any guards in the room; I had probably already killed them.

“Okay Mark, where are you keeping them.” I muttered walking towards the holding rooms.

I shot the door lock and opened it, most of the eyes in the long white hallway turning to me. The glass doors that kept the experiments in were the only things holding me between the old me and the rest of my life.

“Listen up.” I yelled shooting off a couple of bullets into the air, catching everyone’s attention. “I need you guys to come with me… all of you.”

“Why?” I heard one of them shout

“Yeah why?” another one asked

“Do you want to live like this for the rest of your lives? Or do you want to help me destroy the very thing that made you like this?” I asked looking at the blond teenage boy who asked me the first question “If you want to stay in here and be injected with crap everyday. Be my guest.”

He lowered his gaze and sighed.

“If you’re in raise your hand.” I said

I saw the blond boy slowly raise his hand with about eight others. Guess it will have to do, I knew if they weren’t powerful that they wouldn’t hold them in here. I shot the lock on the doors and helped the ones who raised their hand out.

“Okay when I point to you say your name and power.” I said looking at the blond teenager. “You first.”

“Steven, ice.” He said looking at me

“Hello Steven.” I said holding out my hand “I’m Sabrina.”

We went down the line of my nine new recruits. I had seen a couple of mutants in my time at the lab. But I didn’t realize how many more they had made since I’ve escaped.

There was a girl named Janelle who could control fire, Brett who could read minds, but not other mutant’s minds. Alice, who could turn into any animal she wanted to. Josh who could shot lasers through his eyes. Then there was Stephanie and Bridget. They were twins that could duplicate themselves and let me tell you, the two of them are enough. They are so annoying.

Next there was Nick; he was maybe five years old. He could absorb any mutant’s power by touching them. I saw gloves on his hands, probably to keep the others safe. And finally there was Katelyn who could disintegrate anything she wants to with her mind. I reminded myself not to make her mad.  And of course Steven, who could make ice out of mid-air, freeze anything, etc.

“What’s next?” I heard Alice ask “Were just storm in there and kill the head honcho dude?”

“Not yet.” I said “We need more troops first.”

“How will we know where to find them?” Josh asked looking at me

“With this.” I said grabbing the stone out of my pocket and passing it around “It’s like a GPS; all of us have a chip inside of us. Every one of us can be tracked with this and only this, besides me. But that’s a long story.”

“How do you know so much?” one of the twins asked

“I’ve had my experiences, I know too much actually.” I said sitting on the floor

“Where do we go first?” Brett asked looking at the stone

“California, I heard about an escape there this morning.” I said looking at Brett “Is everyone in?”

I saw Janelle, Katelyn, Alice, the twins and Josh nod.

“We will win.” I heard Steven said offering me his hand to help me up. “No matter what it takes.”
