Chapter 55

Haley’s POV

Kayla laid knocked out in the back seat next to me. Glen’s eyes penetrated onto Brett as he drove,  didn’t know where he was taking us. I had to do something, I couldn't just sit here and let this happen.

“Kayla, can you hear me?” I asked in my mind “Please tell me your okay.”

Suddenly, it felt like a rush of air filled my brain, but it was empty, no thoughts, no Kayla. Slowly, I put my hand on Kayla’s forehead.

“Come on Kayla.” I said in my mind “I know your stronger then this, come on.”

I felt the air inside my head shift, and suddenly Kayla’s voice flooded my thoughts.

“Haley?” she asked me her voice shaky

“Kayla!” I said in my mind “What should I do? I’m scared.” I told her, closing my eyes

“Just stay calm.” she told me, and I took a deep breath. “Where is he taking you?”

“I don’t know.” I told her “What should I do?”

“I’m going to try to send a message to Sabrina.” she sighed “Stay calm, make it look like you don’t know anything.”

I sat in silence and tried to stay calm, on the other hand look as worried as possible.

But when I felt the cool air of Kayla’s thoughts leave my mind, I felt like I was going to explode.

Sabrina’s POV

“Where’s Brett’s car?” I asked as I walked out of the gas station carrying a bottled water and a map.

I looked over towards Steven who looked just as worried as I did. He looked back at me, returning my gaze.

“Dammit.” I cursed handing Steven my water and map

Quickly I jogged over to the car and opened the passenger door. I sat down and took the radio in my hand.

“Sabrina to Brett.” I said calmly into the microphone and waited........ no response.

“Sabrina to Brett.” I exclaimed a little more harshly...... no response.

“Dammit Brett. I know you’re there and you better listen up. If you hurt one little hair on Haley’s, Glen’s or Kayla’s head you will pay. I’m not going to kill you, I’ll just make your life a living hell. So I would suggest turning around and getting your a** back here before I would you. And I will find you.” I said all in one breath.

When I let go of the talk button static filled the air. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around to see Steven.

“They’ll be okay.” he told me calmly, looking into my eyes.

“But it’s Brett,” I exclaimed “he’s gutless, you never know what could...”

Before I could finish I felt a rush of cool air fill my mind.

“Sabrina?” Steven asked me. I felt my eyes start to get heavy as they slowly closed. “Sabrina!” he yelled at me, but he was too late, my body slumped against the seat as I was pulled into blackness.

The space around me felt empty, but cool air circled around me. It was completely black, but for some reason I felt like I wasn’t alone.

“Who’s there?” I yelled into the darkness

“Don’t panic.” I heard a familiar female voice say

“Kayla?” I asked “Where am I?”

“My mind.” she mumbled “Now listen up, we don’t have me time. I don’t know where he’s taking us, but he shot me. I passed out, you have to help us.”

“I will mind you guys, I promise.” I told her, not a second later, I felt myself being pulled back into the light. My eyes flew open and I took in a large breath as I sat up.

“Sabrina!” I heard Steven yell as he put his hand on my back trying to hold me up

“What happened?” I asked my vision fuzzy and blurred

“You passed out. You were out for about thirty seconds. Are you okay?” he asked me rubbing his hand up and down my back

“Been better.” I responded

“What’s going on with your eyes?” he asked me and I looked up into the rear-view mirror to see them both turning white.

“This happens when I’m pissed off.” I replied adjusting my hair in the mirror

“Should I go get the others?” he asked me, I could hear the worry in his voice.

I nodded and turned my head towards him. “Brett has gone to far this time.”
