Chapter 6

Sabrina’s POV

I stood in the line at the airport. I was going to Phoenix, to find the stone. The stone would lead me to the others.

“Breaking news,” I heard the TV above me begin “There is currently a large fire at a research center in California. Authorities are on the scene, the cause of the fire is currently unknown”

I saw a picture of the building come up on the TV screen and I gasped. I knew that building. They were escaping.. all of them. That means I could find more, more to save. That meant more answers for me.

I ran out the doors in a rampage and pulled over a taxi.

“Where to?” the driver asked as I hopped into the back seat

“The beach.” I said putting my only suitcase on the seat next to me.

I shut the door and the man quickly drove away.

“Hey Kale.” I said walking into the small shack.

“Sabrina?” he asked looking at me from around the corner “Whoa, you haven’t changed.”

Kale was maybe fifty; he was one of the first “experiments” he helped me escape two years ago.

“What can I do for you?” he asked putting down what he was working on

“Phoenix.” I said playing with the pens on his desk; he eyed me suspiciously “The Stone.” I added

His eyes grew large and he ran over to me and grabbed my wrists.

“Are you sure? Can you face that? Especially alone?” he asked

I looked him directly in the eyes and sighed.

“I’m twenty two,” I said seriously “I’m going to Phoenix”

“Okay,” he said letting go of my wrist “You know what to do.”

I grabbed both of his wrists and closed my eyes, and then everything went black.
