Elisha sat at the edge of their bed, waiting for Soleil to return after his nightly round. Karylla was right, she had taken her mate's love for her for granted without even realizing that everything he had done, everything that he do and everything that he will do was for safety and well-being, all of it without reservation for his own safety.

It was so selfish of her to think of nothing but herself, on what she felt and her own worries, and disregard what Soleil felt when she sends those hurtful emotions to him.

What if Soleil got hurt because of her or worst... because of her..

Elisha shook her head to dispel the idea out of her mind. Living a life without Soleil by her side was unthinkable.

The soft creak of the door snapped her attention back to its source and found Soleil looking at her, warily and unsure.

" Soleil. " Elisha called out, tapping the bed beside her. Soleil sat beside her, his eyes searching and concerned.

" Elisha. . I." He began but Elisha cut him off with a finger on his lips.

" I'm so sorry, Soleil." She murmured.

" I didn't know what came over me. I fear for my Uncle's life and those that I care but I'm more afraid of what future have for us.

I just wish that we could do something for my uncle. But the thought of you being hurt or worst when my selfishness cause us to venture out was something that I will never want to happen nor I would forgive myself. I love you, Soleil." She finished by pressing her lips to her mate and Soleil responded by giving her a passionate kiss that sends shiver on her spine.

Elisha sighed on that kiss.

Nothing changes.

They were mated for some time. Shared, gave and take pleasure at each other, night and day during those moments but the effect of Soleil's nearness never diminished instead it grew more and more in its intensity as if they were both becoming addicted to each other.

"There's nothing to be sorry about, Mate." Soleil breathed when they finally ended their kiss.

I can't live without you. Elisha thought in her mind, focusing on sending those words to Soleil. Soleil never closes their mental bond and she love him more for giving her the privacy of her mind by not taking advantage of reading what she was thinking eventhough he can easily do so.

Nor can I. Soleil replied.

"I love you." Elisha whispered her forehead flushed against Soleil's. Their faces so close to each other that they were breathing each other's air.

"I don't know what those words are but what I feel when you say those words were more than enough." Soleil replied, his eyes filling with tenderness and his silver eyes bright.

"You don't know what love is?" Elisha chuckled.

"No. It's not word that I'm familiar with." Soleil frowned, pulling and shifting Elisha on his lap until she was straddling him. "But whatever it is, the emotions that came along with that word were something that I can use to."

"Love.." Elisha began, playfully pecking at Soleil's nose. "Is when you felt this indescribable need to be as close as possible to someone like you want nothing but meld or attach yourself to that person. It feels like he is your air and without him you can't breathe, you can't think properly, and you're heart will stop beating.
