Slightly easing her off me, I watched her sleep deeply; marveling at the fact that I'm may be the only being in Underworld who have regained my dead mate back to life and I will protect her with my own life for her to stay that way. I had lost her before and there’s no way I would let her be taken away from me.

Running my hand on her bare arm towards the where her neck connects with her shoulder, I gently caressed the area where my mark should be if we had been mated before and where half of my body tattoo will appear after the completion of the Mating Process.

I then remembered why we haven’t been mated before..

It was just after I was set free from being a demon-slave of the warlock, Merlin where Underworld was under chaos that similarly resembles the Mortal’s civil war.

It was the time when the Queen of the Tuatha Dé Danann discovered the abuse done to her people by the vampires, making it the start of a ruthless, bloody vendetta of once been peaceful Tuatha Dé Danann, and this caused the disturbance on the balance of life in the Underworld.

Unstoppable Tuatha warriors slaughtered every vampire in every corner of every realm, creating pandemonium and uproar in their wakes and showing to every creature that their race was a force to be reckoned with.

Their systematic attack on Vampires stirred the dormant lower caste demons and other Underworldly creatures, and those started to attack without any reason at all.

Through this mayhem Hell become a target of opportunists who wanted to break in or break out of the Underworld’s impregnable prison, and the duty to protect Hell fell heavily on the Keepers as the other Underworld nobles were more focused on protecting their realms from indiscriminate attack from other creatures than protecting the hole where the worst of the worst were thrown till eternity.

Fighting was ruthless, deadly and fierce during those times, and was ruled by a single law; kill or be killed.

It was the same time when Nualla’s obsession unfortunately began when I inadvertently saved her from being devoured by a crazed hell-hound. I don’t know who she was back then, I'm just at the right place, at the right time to save her but since then she started to pop on some odd places and time, stalking and watching.

I just ignored her as she neither does anything that interferes with my duty nor had a hand in the incessant attack on Hell.

The upheaval continues as thousand after thousands of Underworld creatures faded away including the instigator of it, Vampires. Some were just collateral damage left by the revengeful Tuatha and some were victims of the other creatures, and some were killed by us, The Keepers.

Then a much needed respite from death and killings came in the form of a celebration that commemorates the separation of Lilith from Adam which resulted to the creation of Underworld and all of its creatures, and that was when I met her.

I and most of the Underworlds converged in the Pleasure Palace, celebrating and taking advantage of the brief rest from everything that the might of Tuatha Dé Danann brought to this realm.

I was truly mesmerized when I saw lounging and entertaining the beings that surrounds her –mostly demons and incubus but totally baffled as she looks the same as that of the annoying succubus –Nualla that I saved before.
