"Soleil." Karylla softly called, breaking Soleil out of his concentration as he searched for the barrier's weak spot.
"Yes?" He answered before closing his eyes and went back on sending his energy back on searching.
"Why did you left Scotia? You know that the Queen never blame you on your brother's death nor his mate, and our people as well." Karylla asked.
"Mother may not voice out or show how she truly felt at my brother's death but I know that she partially blames me on it. Not directly but I did cause his death by accidentally killing his mate. I know my mother and our clan will not condemn me for his death. It was my guilt that drove me away. I never want to leave Scotia but guilt was eating me away everytime that I see the pain in Mother's eyes and the grief on our people's eyes.
I know back then that I can't stay in Scotia and live like nothing happened."
"Everyone missed you and we never stop hoping that you will come back."
"Karylla.. After I left, what happened in our clan?"
"A lot.. The Tuatha left soon after, giving their own people the decision to stay with their Fomorian mate or take their mate with them. All of the Tuatha left and with them they took some of our own. Our numbers were dwindling and we are thankful that no other creature decided to go in our lands. The Queen took the leadership of our Clan and she decided to hide us."
"What do you mean by hiding?" Soleil asked, turning around to face Karylla.
"I didn't tell you about this before but we left Scotia and went to live under in Apa. It was a wise decision on the Queen's part on using our most protected fortress."
"I didn't know. No one lives in Scotia now?"
"No. Some of the warriors stay there to guard it but most of us live in the relative safety of Apa. Since we do not have children to protect why not use the fortress to protect our own people." Karylla explained.
Apa was the underwater fortress of the Fomor that they traditionally used to hide and protect young Fomorians. The very reason why no one had ever seen a pregnant or young Fomorian was because they were jealously guarded in Apa.
"They are still there? Even mother?"
"Yes. Stay there for a while, Soleil. I know I can't persuade you to remain in Scotia or Apa but take your mate their until Ragnarok ends."
"I'll think about it but we must get out if this place first."
"How? It's a shield maiden's barrier. Nobody had ever escaped their illusion before. Even you had a hard time releasing yourself before."
"If this is from a shield-maiden, I can't do anything until she releases me but this illusion was something that the demon had stolen and copied. It's nowhere near a powerful inescapable as that of a shield-maiden's and it will surely have a weak spot, a crack where we can escape."
"What are you searching for? Can I help?" Soleil told Karylla what he was searching for and both Fomorian started to work their way out of Triaru's illusion.
*************
"Shocked, aren't you? You didn't think that I know how a summoning works." Triaru snickered as he squatted beside Thallan's head. "You forget that I had lived this world several lifetimes more than you have. I've seen creatures powerful and weak, born and die; and I've seen them rule this world and watched their extinction. A summoning concocted by the Learned ones was something that I had witnessed and experienced. There was nothing in this world that I haven't seen already, Keeper. Keep that in mind."
