Soleil felt Elisha being separated physically from him during the process of their transport, he tried to take hold of her but he was thrown back by a blinding flash of light and when his eyesight cleared he found himself in a world of ever-changing white that was vaguely familiar.

"Elisha." He called out, trying to sense where his mate and trying to make out where he is at the same time but wherever he was, his sense of direction was all jumbled up, and although he could sense his mate he couldn't pinpoint where exactly she is.

"Sol?" Soleil whipped to his right where a clearly confused and disoriented Karylla materialized out of nowhere. "Where are we? Elisha?" She asked as she sways on her feet.

Soleil hurries to help her, supporting her as he gave her a moment to gain her balance.

"I.. I don't know. I can't find Elisha either." His eyes once again roamed around him, searching for something that wasn't white.

"There was something that was preventing me from finding my mate. I can sense her but I don't know where. It feels like a barrier or a.. Shield." And realization dawned on him. He had seen this before, a very, very long time ago.

"It's a shield-maiden's barrier... who? Why?" Soleil exclaimed, clasping Karylla's hand as he didn't want her to get lost if his suspicion was right. He knew firsthand on how easy it was to get lost in this world of illusions.

As a young warrior several lifetimes ago, it had been a challenge for him to escape a shield-maiden's illusion, and back then, the maidens enjoyed torturing and challenging him.

"Is there a shield-maiden in the Enforcers?" Soleil asked, maybe his mother's enforcers decided to capture him, and if they really did; whoever it was that separated him from his mate will surely pay with their lives.

"No.. I don't think so. There were no maidens in the Enforcers. They protect the Queen and the children, nothing more. With you gone and with no children to protect, they will never leave the Queen's side." Karylla replied. She always admired the maidens since she was young but never knew the extent of their abilities as the protectors of the royals and children.

"It's true that they will never leave willingly unless she was forced to." A voice coming from every direction said.

Soleil crouched in defense when the mocking voice reached them. He knows who that voice belongs to. "Stay close, Karylla." And he didn't have a good feeling about it.

"Show yourself, Demon! What have you done to my shield-maiden?" Soleil called out as a sword materialized in his hand.

Karylla's eyes widen in shock and awe when she saw the sword appear on Soleil's grasp, its vine-like hilt crawled to wrap and encircle Soleil's hand and wrist until it become an extension of his arm.

Karylla had seen that sword quiet often back in the days when Soleil's brother was still alive and everyone thought that it went to the Queen after he passed away.

It's the sword of Orna, a weapon that was death itself and can only be wielded by Fomorian rulers, and the sword chooses its wielder. The presence of the sword only strengthen Karylla's belief that Soleil should be and will the next ruler of their tribe, and by the way that Orna had anchored itself to Soleil means that the weapon chose him as its master.

"Oh I wished I had done something to her but she was a feisty one and I had to dispose her before her mates arrived." Triaru snickered as he materialized right in front of Soleil. "And she did give me a great fight."
