RECAP:

“Soleil, Little One. I'm Soleil and I vow that I will find you.. I swear..” He squeezed my hand for one last time before I was wretched away from him.

And he was gone and screamed out as I was pulled in a dizzying spiral. My stomach contracts and I felt like I was being disemboweled from the inside.

The sensation of falling filled me as my hands instinctively flail around, searching for any handhold.

Oh God.. Oh God..

Elisha..

I heard my name being called out but I'm too disoriented to find the source as I free fall from some indefinite height.

Elisha!

The voice become more persistent and I felt myself being pulled towards its direction.

“Elisha!!” I woke up with a jolt as I looked around wildly. Instantaneously saw the blurred yet familiar ceiling of my attic room but I started to panic when I can’t move my arms.

Dark thoughts crossed my mind.

What if Illia found me and managed to elude the protective spells of my house?

What if it was her or her minions pinning me down on my bed to kill me?

And my survival instinct kicks in as I started trashing and buckling around, trying to dislodge whomever it was that was straddling me.

“Elisha.. Hey stop it.. Damn it.. it’s me!” I stilled when a familiar voice penetrated my adrenaline induced mind.

Thallan? Thallan is here?

“Thallan?” I choked out, tears gathering in my eyes. I don’t know if I'm crying because of my unwarranted fear or because of finding Thallan here with me.

“It’s me.. its me.. Heck! Eli.. I’ve been trying to wake you for hours.” He released his hold on my hands and eased off me as I lay impassive on the bed, too weak to move.

“Here.” Thallan help me up and offered a glassful of water which I greedily emptied. I never felt this thirsty before and it quickly energized me. “You’ve been drifting.”

“Thirstiness was often caused by extended drifting. You were screaming and flailing a lot, El. Are you trying to fight off someone or something?” He added as he eased me back on the bed.

“No.. it’s just.. You’re here.” I looked wide-eyed at him as he hover above me, giving me a sad and regretful smile.

“I'm sorry from leaving you alone here, El. It’s just that I.. I..” Thallan looks really uncomfortable as he tried to find a reason on his disappearance, and once again pain gripped my chest at his futile attempt to cover the week that he went missing with his Mate. His mate who made me ran from my own home to seek sanctuary in my ancestral place and who pointedly warned me away from Thallan.

“El.. I'm really sor –” I didn’t let him finish his pointless excuses as I pulled him hard on me and kissed him with so much desperation that it hurts, and he easily matched my passion.
