Elisha sighed deeply as she made her way down to the kitchen to fix herself something she could eat. A week had passed since the night that she had sex with Thallan, and since then she felt like she was living atop of a mine field where she fears that in one wrong step and in one wrong move, she might ignite the trigger that will blow up either Thallan or Soleil.

Thallan had pointedly avoided her since then and the only time that she saw him was when she occasionally woke up from a disturbed sleep that luckily didn’t involve a forked tongue demon to find him watching her from the doorway or sometimes sleeping with his back on her, in his usual spot by the bed but that was it. Nothing more.

By the time she wakes up the next morning, he was gone again but what infuriate her the most was that she knew he was near and probably just using his Shadowing thing to keep himself invisible to her.

But with Soleil, it was a different matter. His was worst. He acted as if that night when he probably felt whatever happened between her and Thallan didn’t happened at all, and that action of his makes her more uneasy. She rather want Soleil to be angry and rant at her than have his silence. It’s killing her not knowing what he was thinking.

He may not voice it out or shared his feeling through their bond but she knew that the night she went with Thallan affects him especially when he joined her in the shower the following day. She grimaced when the frown on his forehead deepen at each bruise and bite mark he encountered on her, and he was just halfway down her body before he roared furiously and promptly disappeared, leaving her alone in the cold bathroom to wallow on her guilt and grief.

She didn’t know where he went after that and only saw her late that night, staring at her silently and broodingly as if she was something that he couldn’t figure out.

If she could bring back time and stop herself from giving in to the temptation of Thallan she would undo what she had done and maybe everything was as normal as it can be yet Thallan was already a walking time-bomb from his lack of sustenance and she didn’t want to imagine what Soleil could do to him if he attacked her out of desperation.

Armed with a tray of orange juice and toasts, she went out and sat infront of the pond, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the peace that only her ancestors’ sanctuary can give.

She was safe here as long as she was within the protection of the wards as what Soleil had told her.

At the thought of her mate who she left sleeping in their room, she couldn't help but sigh in defeat.

She didn’t know what he truly felt about that night because he refused to say anything to her and because she don’t know how to access their mating bond that he had blocked since that night, and the worst part was that Soleil avoided any sexual intimacy between them.

It’s true that he still hold her at night and kiss her whenever he can but it never progresses on him making love to her.

Does he feel so repulsed with her that he could not bring himself to make love to her? Or did she damaged their relationship that he was just staying because they are mates? Those questions torture her night and day.

But last night she had gathered enough courage to ask him why he was not angry with her and with what she had done and she  remember how Soleil only regarded her with weary eyes before pulling her near. He sighed pensively in her hair before he knelt infront of her, and they both stared at each other’s eyes for some time.

“Remember when I told you that I made an oath that I would gave my mate the decision to accept me as her mate before I found her but both of us knew that things didn’t always happen the way we planned it and we ended up mated before you have the chance to choose, and I never regretted it.
