RECAP:

Meanwhile, Illia paced angrily at the room she shared with Thallan. She couldn’t believe that after Fuxal left Thallan would leave her as well but what truly made her furious was that Thallan left right after the ban that his summoner placed on him was lifted and add to that was the fact that she couldn’t follow after him because it’s still daylight in the Mortal realm.

But she will wait until sunset and when nightfall comes, a certain human will pay with her life..

“Hagen, do you think it’s about time for us to return to the Mortal realm?” A woman’s voice ends the serenity of the silent room and attracting the attention of the equally silent man standing on the balcony. “Years had already passed. Maybe Triaru might have forgotten me or already gave up his search of me.”

The man left his place on the balcony to stand before the woman, connecting his sharp green eyes with her soft amber ones and pulling her tenderly towards his chest.

“Never repeat that demon’s name aloud, Katarina. And to answer your question; no, I can’t and I won’t let you return to the Mortal realm. We already gave up a lot in our lives to keep you and ‘her’ safe, so don’t let it go in vain because you want to go back.”

He unconsciously tighten his hold on his mate when he remembered the hungry and lusty look of the demon that hounded them for several years to stole his mate away from him, and felt the familiar anger bubbling in his chest when recalled the pain that the demon had caused on him and his mate, and sacrifices that they had made to protect their loved ones.

“I'm sorry, Hagen. I just want to see my mother and don’t you ever wonder on what had become of our daughter?” Katarina buried her face on her mate’s chest.

Men, mortal or not  will never know the degree of pain that a mother feels if their offspring was separated from them and Katarina know first-hand the deep, crushing pain that this separation had caused especially when she had to leave her daughter behind to keep her safe.

How is she?

Is her new family treating her fine?

How does she look like?

These were some of the question that troubled her since they fled from Earth to hide in the Elven realm, and she can only wonder on the answers for her questions.

“Don’t ask those kinds of question to me, my love. You know how elves treasure their children.” Katarina look up towards the face of her chosen mate and noting the faraway look on his face before pain clouded his bright green eyes. “It’s killing me to think of what had become of our daughter but we must keep ourselves together and stay strong, for her and for your mother.”

He’s a warrior, an Elven prince but it pains him more than he could admit that he couldn’t protect both his mate and child, and he might not regret his decision of abandoning his daughter to protect her from the demon that lusted after Katarina, but the guilt of choosing his mate over his child filled him with remorse.
