RECAP:

“I must say. She’s quite a beauty.” A low growl erupted from my mouth when the warlock started to caress her unblemished face and I saw her jerked away from his touch.

“Hands off, Warlock..”

“Ah.. You still want her aren’t you? Have a Deal with me and she’s yours for eternity.” His hand drifted down on her milky-white arm, teasing me with something that I could never believe to be true.

She was dead. I saw her fade in my arms several centuries ago because a Warlock entrapped her and she was caught by sunrise but to see her standing just out of my reach; her presence, her face and her scent sends my senses into an overdrive.

Can Warlocks do this for real?

“Or I should keep her all to myself.” Snarling at his teasing, I came closer only to be sizzled by the barrier but my distance confirms what I both feared and yearned for.

It’s her. It’s definitely my Illia, my Mate.

“Thallan? Why I'm here?” Her voice, sultry and soft snaps my head towards her as longing filled me and I saw the evident confusion on her face.

“So what now, Demon? A Deal or your Mate?”

************

“El, wait.” Sam breathed out as she painful clutched her side. Stopping on my tracks with my own chest heaving in exhaustion, I retraced my way back to her cautiously with my eyes darting from left to right, looking for any signs of the creature hounding us.

Who knows where that hulking creature was now?

Running at night in a dark wooded area with some unknown being following after you is definitely not my ideal activity before I go to sleep but here I'm with Sam; running for both of our lives towards my ancestral home and my usually clingy demon is nowhere to be found.

“Are you alright?” I asked her as she helped her down on the ground to catch her breathe.

First she was brutally violated by her boyfriend and now she was running in fear from something that neither of us knows.

“You know what that thing is, aren’t you?” She asked bluntly. “Tell me, El and don’t you dare lie to me.” Her eyes flare with anger and defeated exhaustion.

“I really don’t know what that thing is!” I really don’t know what creature is that and I don’t have any plan of knowing what it was.

“What are you then, El?” I froze at her question and I unsuccessfully tried to cover the shock on my face.

“Please just don’t lie to me. I already suspect you to be someone or something that you’re trying hard to hide. Something that I only read in books and legends, and Nathan, he’s different as well.”
