I won't hurt her

After our talk or argument, we sat there for about 5 minutes. She didn't look at me but I kept watching her from the corner of my eyes. She looked angry and hurt. I flinched at the thought that I was the one who hurt her. But it was better like this.

Finally Alice came back with Carlisle. He looked at me asking if I smoothed the situation with Bella. I swiftly nodded. He took her gently by her elbow and leaded her away. I watched them as they left and prayed that she wasn't hurt seriously.

As they were out of sight I held my head in my hands and let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. She didn't know, but it hurt me to say those things to her. "We need to go home." Said Alice. I looked over at her. She was studying me but didn't say anything.

We sat in silence in the car. I was driving this time, while Alice was looking out of the window. I thought about Bella. Now I didn't need to decide about what should I do with her, she would gladly stay away from me. I gripped the wheel a little tighter. The pain in my chest was back and the only person who could make me feel better would probably avoid me. But it's better for her because I was monster, I could hurt her or kill her. The thought that I never could be with her made me want to cry. But I held it back. It was better for her. It was better for her. I chanted in my head.

"What's up with you and Bella?" My sister asked catching me off guard.

"Nothing." I didn't dare to look into her eyes. She would instantly see the lie in them.

"Edward don't you dare lie to me! I saw you at lunch how you looked at her, then after what happened with Black, how you acted." She narrowed her eyes at me.

"What are you talking about Alice? I didn't acted differently." I tried to stick to my lie.

"Don't look at me like I am stupid Edward." I wasn't even looking at her. "I noticed how you stared at each other at lunch and how you acted after Jacob attacked her. You didn't attack him instead you stayed with her. You were more worried about her."

"She was injured, of course I was worried about her." I said. But I knew that she was going to find out.

"Edward." She sighed. "Why are you acting like this?"

I stopped the car next to the road and looked her in the eyes. I guessed that she was going to tell her suspicious to Jasper and he would figure it out. So she would know it eventually. "I imprinted." I whispered.

Her eyes went wide and a grin made it to her face as she squealed. "Ooh my God! I knew this would happen! She is perfect for you Edward! I am so happy! Have you told her already? And-" That was when I cut it off.

"Alice don't be ridiculous! How could I tell her? I am a monster for God's shake! She can't love me!" I yelled. I was terrified of the idea that she wouldn't love me because what I am.

"Edward don't be an idiot. You imprinted on her that means everything will work out. And do you honestly think Carlisle is a monster? Or the others?"

"No they are not, but they didn't hurt anyone did they?" I asked with a broken voice.

"Edward, that was an accident. You didn't mean it." She said with a gentle voice.

"But I still did it." I looked ahead and I couldn't help it but relive the memory. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked at Alice. She had a sad smile on her lips.

"It will work out Edward. You suffered enough, you deserve to be happy again."

"I don't think so and she doesn't need to be dragged into my world and get hurt, I won't let it." I vowed that to be true.

She pursed her lips and turned away. With a sigh I started to drive again.
