Chapter 20 - A little too much

Chapter 19 - The boys kept their cold attitude with Nathan as they all waited for Tom to wake up again. Nathan clung to Kelsey as soon as Alexis returned home. Nathan had already forgotten that he was the one who wanted Kelsey to go away as he clung to Kelsey, taking up the little comfort he was getting. They watched as the doctor checked on Tom again and Nathan literally felt his heart stop when the doctor said, "chances of him waking up are less." Excusing himself to go to the bathroom, Nathan sat down on the floor, removing the blade he had in his pocket as he made two cuts on each arm. Each cut reminding him of being the reason why his brother was literally dying.

It was a long time since Nathan last self harmed. He had promised Tom that he wouldn't do it again. But now that Tom himself wasn't going to be there, what was life for him?

Nathan had done this several times in his life. He knew this like routine now. Two cuts on each arm. Let the blood flow for a while before reaching for the tissues and cleaning up the cuts. Then he would pull on his hoodie and hide the cuts as he tried to wipe the tears and make himself look presentable. And then it would be back to show time as he would walk back to Kelsey and settle down quietly next to her as if nothing happened.

Kelsey looked at Nathan and frowned when she saw the boy look a bit pale. Thinking of it as being the stress of watching his big brother in such a state, Kelsey pulled the boy to her for a cuddle. Nathan whined a little but settled in as Kelsey carded a hand through Nathan's hair and gently rubbed the boy's back lulling the little boy to sleep. Nathan whimpered in his sleep as Kelsey pulled her closer, sighing sadly as she tried to comfort the little boy ignoring the icy glares from the boys.

Max had been staring at Tom as they all sat by Tom's side. He desperately wished that Tom would just wake up and he was so scared that he was trying to be angry at Nathan rather than break down. Still staring at Nathan, Max mumbled to Kelsey, "It's Nathan's fault that Tom is here." "Max, don't say that. You know that Nathan is not at fault. It was just an accident so no one is to be blamed." Kelsey said, "And just because you're scared, it doesn't mean that you get to blame the little one." Max could only sigh as he blinked back tears.

Hours were going by but Tom wasn't waking up and the boys were getting scared as well as frustrated. And Max couldn't help but snap at Nathan when he saw the boy get in bed next to Tom and cuddle up the boy as he sobbed. "Please don't disturb the patient" a nurse said and Max rolled his eyes as he pulled Nathan out of the bed. "Stop bothering Tom. You've been enough of a bother to him already. It's already your fault that he landed here." Max said and didn't even care as the boy ran away there. "Seriously Max? You still blame that boy" Kelsey said. Siva sighed as he and Jay ran off to find Nathan.

Nathan had gone back to the bathroom as he sat down and removed his blade and deepened the two cuts that were already on his arms. Unfortunately for Nathan, he had made the cuts too deep. Feeling lightheaded, Nathan was unable to stop himself from being lightheaded and passed out in the bathroom. Fortunately for him, Siva and Jay had been looking for him but they were shocked to find the boy in a bleeding mess. "Shit" Siva cursed when he saw the boy. "I'll go get someone to help us" Jay said hurrying to get anyone to help them, a doctor or a nurse.

They had managed to get a doctor to see Nathan and judging by the cuts and the blade, they assumed that Nathan was trying to either self harm or kill himself. If that didn't make Max feel guilty then he was soon going to feel guilty when almost immediately as Nathan was hospitalized, Tom woke up from his comatose state. It was as if it had been a little too much for Nathan and Max couldn't help but feel bad about being perhaps the one that made it become a little too much for Nathan.

Max had been sitting by Tom's side when suddenly he felt the boy stirring in bed. "Tom, you awake, man?" Max asked. Seeing Tom's eyes open, Max hurried to get a doctor to look over Tom. While Jay and Siva stayed with Nathan, Kelsey had ran back to see Tom. The doctor assured them that the worst was over and Tom could now look forward to a healthy recovery. "It's so good to see you awake" Max said, giving Tom a light hug. Tom smiled before he noticed the absence of the two others and especially of Nathan.

"Hey, where's Nathan? I've said some pretty bad stuffs to him. I want to see him" Tom said. Kelsey sighed as she shared a look with Max. "Tom, something happened while you were unconscious here..." Max trailed.
