Chapter 22 - Back to being brothers

Chapter 21: Kelsey and Chase managed to get Tom in a wheelchair and brought him to see Nathan. The boy was still unconscious as Tom sat by Nathan. "God, Nath, what did we do to you?" Tom said as he held Nathan's hand.

Standing by Tom's side, Kelsey placed a hand on Tom's shoulder. Outside the door, she could see Max standing by and also trying to hide from them too. Kelsey sighed. Now, maybe only Nathan waking up could bring the boys back together again and clear all these drama.

Tom stayed the whole night next to his little brother. Thankfully, since they already knew Chase from before, the man managed to get a bed next to Nathan for Tom. Kelsey, along with Jay and Siva, stayed by Tom and Nathan's side. Meanwhile, Max also sat through the entire night outside Nathan and Tom's room. Kelsey kept looking over the window to see Max and it truly broke her heart to see the boys so broken off each other. Now all she could hope was the drama to be over already and the boys could go back to being brothers.

Coming morning, Nathan finally regained consciousness. "You awake, buddy?" Siva asked. "Tom" Nathan mumbled as soon as he opened his eyes. "I'm here baby." Tom muttered from his side of the bed where he was already trying to get down. "Oh no, you stay there. Your ribs still have to heal and your head too." Chase said as he came to check on Tom and Nathan. Tom glared at Chase but he still complied. Nathan, on the other hand, stumbled to his brother's side and stood by the bed, looking at his brother, tearfully.

"Come here" Tom simply said as Nathan dove in to snuggle in his big brother's side. "Was so scared" Nathan mumbled as he sobbed his little heart out. "I know baby. But I'm fine now." Tom promised. When Nathan managed to calm down a bit, Chase took the opportunity to check over Nathan. "Not fair Nath, I scold your brother not to get up and you quickly dive in next to him." Chase chuckled. "How is he, Chase?" Tom asked. "He might be a bit light headed since he lost a bit of blood. But he'll be fine as long as he doesn't repeat such a thing again." Chase said. None of them said anything when Tom pulled Nathan closer and whispered, "never again."

Leaving the two brothers in each other's company, Chase came out and sat by Max's side. Max woke up to something tightening against his bicep. "What?" Max asked. "Blood pressure slightly elevated" Chase said, "You'll make yourself sick." "He is too stubborn" Kelsey said as she came out to see Chase and Max. "He needs to rest." Chase said before leaving Kelsey and Max alone. Kelsey sat by Max's side. "Talk to them. Nathan's awake now. Tom might listen to you now." Kelsey said. "Might?" Max asked as he chuckled sadly. Kelsey sighed.

Kelsey returned back to Tom's side and she cleared her throat as Max walked in. Nathan looked up to Max and whimpered as he tried to hide in Tom. "Get out" Tom shouted at Max. "Please, just listen to him" Kelsey pleaded for Max. "Tom, please" both Siva and Jay said. Tom turned his head towards the wall so as not to see Max as the lad pulled a chair next to the bed. "Nath, I'm sorry for telling you that Tom's condition was your fault. It's not actually your fault. I was too scared. All I could think of at that time was that my big brother was hurt. Just like Tom is your big brother. He is mine too. And I was just too scared at that time." Max admitted.

Nathan had removed his head from Tom's side as he looked up to Max. "You know, Tom did a lot for me man. He is the one who I look up to. Whenever I have a problem, whenever I'm in problem, Tom's been there for me. When he got hurt, all I could think of was that my big brother was hurt. I was too scared but I couldn't show it. I'm a big brother to Siva and Jay. I can't show them that I'm scared. Instead, I chose to be angry at you. It was wrong but I was out of my mind at that time. I didn't mean for you to self harm again. But please try and understand me, that was not my intentions. I was just too scared for Tom." Max continued on.

Tom had by now turned his face away from the wall but he was still not looking at Max. "But I understand, I messed up and caused a big drama for nothing. I'm really sorry for that. I understand if you don't forgive me Nathan. I understand if you never want to see me again, Tom. I'll go away." Max said and stood up to leave. He took a step forward but was caught by a dizziness spell. "Max, are you okay?" Siva shouted as he and Jay helped Max to sit back down. "I have to go" Max mumbled. "You sit back down, you idiot." Tom shouted and then turning to Jay, he said, "Go get Chase."

"His blood pressure is high and I already told him this. Plus, he hasn't eaten and hasn't even slept properly" Chase said, "He needs rest." Max snorted as Chase gave his diagnosis after checking him up. "Well, he is going to rest now. He'll take Nathan's bed." Tom said. Chase nodded, smiling as he left.

Nathan had gotten down and walked up to Max and whispered, "I forgive you." "You shouldn't" Max admitted. "But I do" Nathan insisted. "I'll accept your forgiveness one condition. That is if you promise to not self harm again." Max said. Nathan hesitated but he then nodded. Tom smiled. "I forgive you too" Tom said. "Tom..." Max sighed. "Are you crying?" Tom asked. "What do you think?" Max replied. "Oh you're such a big baby. You see that Nathan, Max is a bigger baby than you" Tom chuckled as he wrapped Nathan in a hug again but he also had tears in his eyes as he watched Jay and Siva hug Max.

Kelsey wiped off a lone tear as she smiled. Finally the drama was over and the boys were back to what they were meant for and were best at. The boys were back to being brothers.
