Timer

Chapter 20

There will be no more days after this one. Sorry I havent updated, I went on holidays after grad and my cousins are now here and I have my HSC and just damn, so busy. So for now, Ill be updating this one and not Ghost. But it will still be getting written/updated when I have time.

Day 26: Ruby

I woke up bright and early, deciding that I was gonna go for a run. I tied up my shoes and grabbed my ipod before leaving. I decided to run down to the little river that I found yesterday. Also where I met Zac. He was really sweet, but also had a mysterious side to him.

I ran out the front door, taking the same path as I did yesterday. Through the shrubs, trees and leaflittler, down to the peace and quiet of the river bank.

I noticed Zac down there aswell, so I went over to him, deciding to start up another conversation.

"Hey." I smiled, startling him a bit, which caused me to laugh.

"What are you doing?" He asked me.

"Just came for a morning run." I smiled and he nodded. It started to warm up so I pulled my jacket off and tied it around my waist.

"Im deffinately happy I found this spot." I said.

"Same here." He replied. "Its kinda like my safe haven you know?" Like my escape. Ever since I lost my soulmate this is where I came." I placed my hand on his shoulder.

"You can keep going if you want. Im here to listen." He gave me a smile as he sniffled. Its weird to think how much a person you have never met, can affect your life in such a big way.

"Anyway, I come down here and sometimes imagine what if would be like to be here with her. To be holding her hand, smiling and laughing. But now I dont know when ill even-"

Zac was cut off by the beeping of my alarm. I looked down and it flashed the word "cheated" before the time went to zero.

"What?" I panicked, looking up at Zac. "It said "cheated" then went back to zero? Did I do something wrong?" My breathing started to become rapid. I had always been that type of person that over panics when something happens.

"Have you slept with anyone in the last 30 days? Or kissed someone?" Zac questioned, before I shook my head.

We both ran back to my house, tears streaming down my face. I didnt know what to do, what I did or what had happened.

"Mum." I screamed, running through the front door and out the back where she was with Cooper and dad.

"Look." I puffed, holding out my now blank timer to my parents as Zac just stood behind me, out of breath. I dont think he realised just how fast I was.

"Why is it at 0? Did you meet your soulmate already and we werent there? Is Zac yo-" I cut mum off from her endless stream of questions.

"No he isnt." I sat down. "It started beeping, then it flashed with the word "cheated" and then it went to 0." I started crying harder and my dad came over and pulled me into a hug.

"Shh sweetheart its okay." He whispered.

"What do I do now? Am I gonna live the rest of my life alone?" I panicked again. "Oh no! Im gonna be one of those ladies that lives alone with my million cats." Mum, dad and Zac all laughed.

"You wont baby girl, dont worry. You are beautiful and smart. Remember there are people out there to who have had things happen like this aswell and they are just waiting for someone to come along." He said. "Just give it time." I nodded.

"The other thing is, is that if you meet the person who cheated on you, your timers will beep three times and he or she will have to convince you into accepting their apology." I chimed in. "And what if I dont?" "Then youll just have to wait for the right person with a neutral timer to come in." I wiped my eye and groaned.

I guess ill be waiting for a while then. I just cant believe this happened. Hell, I didnt know it could happen since we have timers.
