n.h: Why You Always Lyin?

I guess technically, I lied to her. It's not like I wanted to. Whatever spell she had me under made me lie to her. Or maybe that's just me trying to cover up for myself.

I've been going to see Siren every other night for the last two weeks now and I think I'm in love. She's beautiful, smart, funny. She's just a great person, or Siren I guess, to hang around and I can't even remember what my life was like when I didn't know her.

Harry so far is the only one worried for my well being, even though I keep telling him I'm fine. He doesn't really believe me though and thinks I'm getting in too deep. "It's not a big deal. She's a nice person." I grumbled rolling my eyes at him.

"She's not a person Niall. She's a Siren."

"She hasn't killed me yet." I pointed out to him again for the twelfth time. Harry crossed his arms and pursed his lips.

"Not yet."

"Why the slow play then? She has nothing to gain from just talking to me." Harry shook his head. No matter how many times or ways I said it, he was still unconvinced. "I like her. She's pretty, funny.."

"That's what she wants you to think she's a.."

"A Siren and I don't care."

Most of our conversations now went like that so I tried to avoid talking to him. Actually, I was beginning to realize I wasn't talking much to anyone at all, except Siren. Nobody was the wiser though. I was always usually quiet so it didn't raise any suspicions. I just didn't really see the point in talking if I wasn't talking to her.

Siren, as it turns out is also incredibly smart. She knows about a lot of ancient cultures and languages. Her sisters, she explained, have been around since nearly the early 1000 and have learned and seen a lot in the millennium. "My sisters are so smart. They can speak nearly every language on the planet. Including Atlantean ."

"Atlantean?" I repeated bewildered. Siren nodded, smiling. "As in Atlantis?"

"Of course. Oh it's a beautiful city Niall."

"It is?" Siren shrugged a little.

"Yeah, what's left of it is."

So while Siren knew a lot about old cultures and underwater cities, she was pretty clueless when it came to turn of the century stuff. I was having to constantly explain myself if I made a reference to something she didn't quite understand. There was a time last week where I mentioned my favorite band and she looked so confused it was beautiful.

"So they sing? What melodies do they know?" She asked excitedly. Music was one of the things she was very passionate about.

"Nothing like what you sing, they make up their own songs and tunes." Siren cocked her head, confused.

"How?"

"Well they have.." I paused. "Sound boards and instruments." I could tell she had no idea what I was talking about so I tried to explain everything as best as I could. After I finished she tapped her chin lightly and looked up at me.

"So these artists.." She began slowly, pronouncing artists wrong. I nodded. "They play the guitar and band and drums to make.. Music?"

"Yes that's right."

"And they also sing but melodies they use words from your language."
