l.h: Something Fishy

I was down to my last pearl and there was nothing I could do about it. The bars of my cell were made of stone so I couldn't break them and nothing in my small square could help me. There wasn't even a guard to manipulate into letting me go. I was a dead man.

Sighing, I sat down on the stone bench and pulled the pearl chain off my neck. I didn't particularly want to see when. I would run out of hope. Setting the necklace under the bench I leaned against the wall behind me and closed my eyes wondering why the King would go to such lengths to kill me. I hadn't done anything completely treasonous. Had I?

A commotion just beyond the door to the jail caught my attention. It sounded like a fight had broken out, though I couldn't imagine why. Then, bursting through the doors came Noella. "Luke?" She called out.

"Noella, what are you doing?" I demanded. Noella breathed a sigh of relief and swam towards me, keys jangling in her hands. "How did you get past the guards?"

"I don't have time to explain." She said, quickly unlocking my cell before rushing in and hugging me again. I wrapped my arms around her waist tightly. "We have to get you out of here." She pulled me out and we rushed towards the open door of the jail. Just outside of it were several large sharks, seemingly growling at the guards who weren't unconscious.

"Whoa, telepathy powers?" I asked. Noella nods, quickly leading me past the sharks and the armed guards.

"The sharks are especially keen to my call ever since I saved one of their young ones."

"Amazing." She smiled at me as we rushed down the corridor.

"I'll take you back to the tunnel and after that, all you have to do is swim north as fast as you can your necklace.." She halted when she glanced back at me. "Your necklace, where is it?" She demanded. I grasped at the empty place on my chest.

"Shit, I left it back there. I thought I was going to die and I didn't want to know when."

"It doesn't matter. Right now we have to focus on getting out of here before.." A horn sounded and Noella cringed. "Before they sound the alarm." We took off again and I followed her out a large carved window. "Follow close behind me." She commanded, swimming furiously through the water.

"I'm right on your tail." She laughed at my corny joke as we moved through the water at top speed. We weaved through buildings and down alleyways of streets, zipping past people who had to pull their children out of their way. All the while, everyone whispering about Noella being the Princess.

"Look at her go."

"What is she doing?"

"What's happening?"

"Who is that with her?" I guess nobody in the Kingdom Kent that a human was amongst their midst.

"There they go! Stop them!" I glanced up at several guards who had finally tracked us through the city.

"Faster!" Noella shouted to me, increasing her speed. "We're nearly there!" I sped up to swim beside her as she concentrated on I assume, calling her shark friends to help us. Instead, a minute or so later, three octopuses came up out of nowhere and stood between us and the guards, spraying black ink everywhere.
