l.t. Little Brother

We were in our religious studies class and I was having a rousing discussion with this so called professor. I knew this might happen. This teacher and I would not be able to get along seeing as how he would probably be on God's side in every situation but I didn't know he was incompetent either.

The humans have tried to associate me with snakes. Me. Favorite son of God, a snake. I may have been a fallen angel but I was not a slippery reptile.

"And the snake has been distrusted by humans since." Raising my hand slightly, I decided I had heard enough of his useless rambling. "Yes, Mr. Tomlinson."

"Are you suggesting the snake was Lucifer. Did an angel suddenly become reptilian when he hit the ground?" There was a couple snickers towards the back of the room.

"Uh, no Louis. The snake was merely a cohort of the devil."

"How? Did they meet and Lucifer and just thought, oh I'll make this creature work for me. He was an angel. If he wanted something done, he would have done it himself."

"But the devil works through creatures. He was never one to get his hands dirty."

"How do you know? Have you met him?"

"It's how it has been written all throughout all of history."

"That's God's history. The Bible was his doing. So it's biased. It's his version of the story. Was there a gospel of Lucifer in there that I missed?" The teacher seemed to ponder my question. "All I'm saying is that, Lucifer did everything God asked of him but when God told him to bow to the humans and Lucifer refused, there was no slap on the wrist and get sent to your room like humans have gotten all throughout history, he was rejected by heaven.."

"We are Gods greatest creation." Not that crap again.

"Humans? Humans are Gods greatest creation?" I scoffed. "No. Humans are sinful. Humans start war. Humans don't trust one another. Humans hate others of their own species. Maybe Lucifer saw this and knew they weren't worth it. We aren't worth it." I had to make it sound like I was human after all. "How can you say humans are the greatest creatures when he created angels, beings of light. They were perfect. Humans are imperfect."

"That's why God sent his son down to earth to save us."

"If God just simply hadn't created us, he wouldn't have had to kill his only son to save our souls." I huffed. "Everyone always paints Lucifer as the bad guy, the angel who fell from Heaven and became the devil but all he did was fall. And when he hit the ground, maybe God told him to become everyone's worst fears."

"What are you suggesting here Louis?" I sighed.

"What if Lucifer was still following God's orders despite being locked out of Paradise? Maybe God knew he couldn't be all powerful, all good without someone to fight against. Maybe he created this persona of a devil and Lucifer just followed orders. Coerced into becoming something he's not."

"Are you an atheist Louis?"

"You're just going to ignore my theory?" I countered

"God would never manipulate in such a way, the error is human."

"Except humans were made in Gods image. We learned manipulation from him. We learned everything from him." The teacher cleared his throat and looked around nervously.
