l.t: Delilah's Dilemma

"Describe him to me again but this time, use your artistic words." I laughed as Natalia said this, grabbing a pillow and brining it to her chest to hug. "Come on, I know you can do it. Just describe him how you would describe art."

"I'm not going to do that Natalia." I said, shaking my head at her as I sat on my own bed opposite of her. Natalia frowned.

"Why not? Come on, this is the only boy you've ever shown interest in since I've known you since freshman year."

"I'm not showing an interest in him. I mentioned him because he's a friend. There's a difference." Natalia shook her head urgently and I pursed my lips, waiting to hear what she had to say.

"No, no. Delilah. You began your sentence about Louis saying, "So I met this guy". I dare you to tell me that doesn't sound like the beginnings of every teen romance novel and movie." She was right of course. I shouldn't have started off my sentence about Louis like that but how else was I supposed to say it? I had met him and he was a guy. I didn't mean to string those words together in that way but now that it was done, Natalia wasn't going to let go of it easily.

"Okay, I'm sorry I worded it that way but he's just a friend. Well, I barely know him. I don't know. I just wanted to tell you an interesting fact about my day." I argued.

"Well, it is interesting. A guy you saw in your tiny hometown of god knows where." I started to laugh. "Is suddenly going to our school or, claims he has been going here for the past two years, like us. I'm sorry but I know a lot of people here and Louis, doesn't ring a bell."

"He says he's a commuter, lives off campus so maybe that's why you don't know him."

"You talked to him enough to know about that? Where does he live? What apartment complex?" I sighed. "Bridgewood housing? Oak Places? Pine Apartments? Why are all these apartments named after trees?" I laughed as she said this before shaking her head at her own question. "Point being, I know this is a big school but, we were bound to have seen him at least once in the past two years, right?"

"I guess. Maybe he looks different. We can't really know Nate. You're being... Weird and paranoid."

"Paranoid? Not really. I'm just saying that it's odd. You see him in your hometown, he's here now. It's weird. You can at least agree to that right?" I licked my lips, feeling that weird prickle on the back of my neck like someone was watching me again. I knew I was the one being paranoid now because my back was against the wall.

"You're right. It's weird."

"I'm sorry, can you say that again so I can record it?" I laughed as Natalia smiled brightly.

Sipping my coffee in the dining hall the next morning, I flipped through pages of my textbook for English class. It was going to be a class solely on Shakespeare's works and while I didn't quite understand a lot of his double meaning dialogues, I knew I would like the class.

"You have the book already?" I was startled by a voice above me and glanced up into the incredibly blue eyes of Louis who looked as he always did, unamused.

"I.. Uh yeah. Are you in the English class on Shakespeare?" Louis nodded, shifting around on his feet a little nervously. I always told myself he couldn't be nervous talking to me. There was nothing to be nervous about. I surely wasn't anything special.

"Yes. I saw you from over there." He said pointing towards the vending machine, only then did I notice he had a water bottle in his hand. "And I came over and saw the book you were reading. I was going to go to the bookstore to see if they had it."
