m.c: Danger
The ride home was just as invigorating as the ride out. It was when I walked through the door of my house that all my energy drained out of me. My parents stood there, arms crossed, looking just a little bit pissed off. "Hi..?" I said cautiously.
"Where have you been young lady?" I gulped. Young lady. My dad only called me that when he was mad.
"I was um.. Out?" I said slowly, cautiously. What was I supposed to say? 'Hey dad I was just with that random stranger who slept at our house last night. I rode on the back of his mother cycle to a field where we kissed and he took me home. How was your day?'
"Out?" He demanded. I sighed.
"I was with Michael. The boy from last night.." I murmured. My dad just stared at me.
"Why?"
"He.. I don't know.. It's not a good excuse. Well, I'm not trying to make excuses but he appeared at the high school and asked if I wanted to hang out with him so I did. Nothing happened. We just went out to that field, you know the one covered in flowers just outside of town?"
"Okay." He said expectantly, waiting for me to continue. I blushed red remembering our kiss.
"And we'll.. I don't know what you want me to say.. We uh.. Kissed? But it's not a big deal!" I exclaimed as my mom began to smile.
"Aw honey remember how we used to go out there?" My mom asked, clinging to my dads arm. My dad slowly smiled but cleared his throat and looked back at me sternly.
"You could have called."
"I know. I'm sorry. I won't make a habit out of this I swear." I promised them my dad nodded his head firmly.
"Will you invite him over for dinner sweetheart?" My mom asked coming towards me.
"No.. Why?" I asked nervously. I didn't want to invite him over for dinner. How mortifying. And even if I did want to invite him over, I didn't have a phone number. When I got off the back of Michaels motorcycle he had kissed my cheek and said,
"See you tomorrow Lydia." He put his helmet on with a wink. I didn't have time to think about how I was going to see him tomorrow or why because he drove off. I didn't even realize I didn't have a way to contact him until right now.
"It would be nice to get to know him don't you think? Where is he from? His family? It's not everyday strangers pass through this town, let alone those who are werewolves." My mom was right, of course, but I just stood there and said nothing.
"I think we overwhelmed her." My dad jokes, touching my shoulder lightly. "Go wash up for dinner and then after you'll go right to your room to do your homework." He orders. I nod my head slowly and turn towards the downstairs bathroom. It would be nice to get to know Michael because right now, I knew jack squat. Where was he from? Why was he here? What did he want with me?
----
"Spill Lydia. Who was that obnoxious looking boy with green hair." I laughed a little as Kathy stared me down.
"Good morning to you too."
"Nuh-uh, don't do that. Who was he? Why did you not mention him before?" I shrugged my shoulders. I knew why I didn't mention him but now I needed a real excuse, one that didn't involve werewolves.
"Well he uh.. He got hurt outside our house late at night like two days ago and I just.. I don't know. I fixed him up and brought him inside. No big deal."
"Um, excuse me. Pretty big deal. Is he cuter up close because nobody just takes a random guy off the street and brings them into their house." Michael had said something similar to that after I had brought him inside. I shrugged again as we continued down the sidewalk.
"He's cute, yeah. His green hair is a bit much."
"Okay, so what did you guys do yesterday after you rode off?"
"Well you know that field just outside of town where all those flowers are?" Kathy gasps.
"He took you to make out lane? Please tell me you made out with your first boy." I stared to blush red. "There's no denying it now. You two made out! Congratulations Lydia." I laughed, shaking my head at her.
"We just kissed a couple of times. We didn't make out."
"Are you going to see him again?"
"I think so.." I frowned. "I don't have his number and he didn't ask for mine but he said he would see me tomorrow. Well today I guess." Kathy smiled knowingly. "What?" I asked, smiling.
"Who knew my Little Lydia would fall for the dangerous kind." She cooed, ruffling my hair and probably messing it up. Dangerous? She had no idea.
"What are you talking about?" I said, rolling my eyes.
"I'm talking about him. Motorcycle, leather jacket and boots. His middle name is practically Danger." I laughed.
"It's not. It's Gordon." Kathy grinned.
"It's funny that you know that."
"He just mentioned it yesterday. No big deal."
"No big deal? You guys are on a middle name basis." I shake my head at her.
"He doesn't know my middle name Kathy. You're being so dramatic right now." She pouted, probably taking offense to that as we walked onto school grounds.
"Well I still think it's cute and I want to know all the other details of your little brush with danger later okay?" She hugged me quickly before rushing to the building for her first class. I waved goodbye as she glanced back at me. Kathy smiled, slipping inside. Sighing, I continued to my first class at a steady pace. I would have to ask Michael for his number. If I saw him today that is.
----
"What's up buttercup!" A loud voice called out. I turned my head swiftly, my hair flying over my shoulder. Michael is in the parking lot again, this time sitting on his motorcycle. He's holding out his helmet to me.
"Well run along." Kathy says, nudging me. "Your boyfriend awaits."
"He's not my boyfriend." I said, shaking my head at her as I pull out my cellphone to text my parents.
"Not yet he isn't." I roll my eyes at Kathy as I wave goodbye, heading towards Michael.
"Need something Michael?" I ask him. He grins.
"You on the back of my bike." I try not to smile at that.
"What makes you think I want to go somewhere with you?" Michael shrugged, taking my hand
"I know you can't resist me babe. Now come on, I'm taking you out on that date."
"Rain check?" I asked. Michael frowned which made me laugh. I took the helmet from his hands.
"Don't tease me babe. I could get angry and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Michael said with a wink.
"What are you gonna do to me uh?" I boldly kissed his cheek and was surprised when he blushed. I wrapped my arms around his waist. Michael revved the engine of his bike.
"Something innocent girls shouldn't do." I was glad I was wearing his helmet because otherwise he would see how red I was. As we took off down the street, I asked him where we are going. "Anywhere you want."
"Where do you live?" Michael smiled.
