z.m: Enter Hell

Zayn

"Next!" I shouted, my voice booming across the nearly empty throne room. The guards no longer shook when I spoke. I should change that. Before, just my mere presence struck fear into the hearts of others. If demons had hearts that is. Whether they do or not, I was feared. I was glorious and I was feared. I will make them fear me again but first I have other business to attend to.

A demon was thrust into the room then. He wore tattered and torn clothes, and looked like he was in the vessel of that of a father. His clothes were probably torn from the torture every prison undergoes before seeing me. The man shivered and shook with fear. Pitiful. Simply pitiful. "And what is it you've done?" I demanded in a bored tone, rubbing my temple slowly with one hand?

"Your majesty..." Holding up my hand, I motioned for Lev to announce his crimes. Lev is my right hand man so to speak. He's known me the longest and been around longer than most of the tortured souls down here. Lev used to think I was Lucifer himself, but I'm not. I'm one of the First, as in, one of the first people to die and get sent down to this literal hellhole. After Jesus Christ, the Savior, took all the souls down here up to salvation. There had to be someone sent down to dance with the devil first after that time. I was among them.

Most people don't believe in Hell and if they do, they don't think anyone is down here. They're wrong. There's plenty of people and plenty of room. Before, Lucifer himself was the one to control all our dastardly deeds. He was the one who set up the Soul Trade but when Hell began to get too big to rule he offered me the job under the understanding that he was the sole ruler of Hell and I, was just a stand in. But this job suits me and I suit it. Almost like I was born to rule Hell.

"High treason your majesty. He..." I stopped him there. High treason. That's all I need to hear. Lev nodded his head and stepped back again.

"For your crimes against the King of Hell yada, yada, yada. Etcetera, etcetera. Your sentence is death. Effective immediately. Last words." I commanded.

"Please.." Snapping my fingers the demon crumbled to ash. A little trick the Devil himself taught me.

"Poor choice in last words." I grumbled. Lev took a step towards me but I held up my hand and he stopped. I didn't want to hear it. I was clearly bored to death and killing random demons accused of high treason only seemed to add to it. I needed something fun, entertaining. With a flick of my wrist two guards swept up the ashen pile and dumped it in a nearby trash can. "Where can a demon get some fun around here?" I demanded lowly.

"Well, killing other demons usually does the trick but.." I cut him off.

"But it's not working. I need to go to the surface world." I muttered the last part, standing swiftly.

"The surface world Your Majesty?" Lev questioned following me as I snapped my fingers and opened the throne room doors.

"I don't think you're deaf Lev. You heard me. The surface." I repeated roughly, rounding a corner. Lev swallowed hard and rushed after me.

"A-are you sure? I mean, the surface isn't what you'll be used to. It's been a long while since you've been up there and.." I stopped him there, turning around and glaring at him. I towered over Lev but he wasn't one to cower in fear like most demons. That's why he's one of the best.

"Are out implying that I'm old? Worn out? That I can't kill like I used to?" I demanded. Lev shrugged.

"You've heard of Hunters I assume." I scoffed, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes.

"Of course I've heard about them. Those pesky humans think killing one demon makes a difference, but it doesn't. People die everyday and there's a fifty, fifty chance of where they'll get sent." I muttered turning back around and stomping down the halls. I was headed for security. They monitor anyone and everyone willing to make a deal with the devil. It was difficult at first to map all the crossroads in the entire world, but we did it. I haven't been out in the field in nearly a thousand years. I think it's time to change that.
