chapter twenty-two

" I'm on my way to the airport to pick up my parents! Call me if you need me!" Liam calls as he walks out of house. I was sitting downstairs on the couch with Luke and Kaylee playing around me. They were in their own little world so they really didn't pay attention to me unless they wanted something. Which was often.

" Mummy, where daddy go?" Kaylee asks. Luke climbed on the couch so he could sit next to me. Kaylee was sat in front of me on the ground.

" He went to the airport to pick up grandma and grandpa from New York." I say.

" Have we ever met them mommy?" Luke asks.

" No. I, myself, have only met them twice." I say.

" Why we don't see them?" Kaylee asks.

" Because they live in New York which is really far away from where we live. We don't have time or money to go visit them often." I say.

" Are they nice?" Luke asks.

" If you mean they bring presents for you, I don't know. They probably will because they don't see you very often." I say.

" I love how you know me mommy." Luke says.

" You are my child, so I should know a lot about you." I say.

" When will daddy be back mummy?" Kaylee asks.

" I don't know peanut. The airport is kinda far away from our house. And it all depends on traffic there and back." I say.

" Is Uncle Louis coming?" Luke asks.

" No. We want to spend some time with grandma and grandpa from New York, not Uncle Louis who we see everyday." I say.

" Can we see Baby Matt?" Kaylee asks.

" We can see him later this week. But for now, we need to spend time with your grandparents who you don't see very often." I say.

" Where will they stay mommy? We don't even have room for my brother!" Luke says.

" Oh, that reminds me. Lukey, you're gonna be sharing your room with your baby brother, okay? We're a little tight with space so I need this to happen. And grandma and grandpa will take Kaylee's room." I say.

" But where will I go?" Kaylee asks.

" You get to sleep in Luke's room. But just because you're sleeping in his room doesn't mean you get to stay up late playing. When me or daddy tucks you in and say goodnight, you go to sleep." I say.

" Got it!" They both say to me. I smile.

" Good."

" Mommy, can we watch a movie?" Luke asks laying his head on my lap so he can look up at me. With my stomach in the way, it wasn't working very well.

" Of course we can munchkin. What do you want to watch?" I say.

" We watch princesses." Kaylee says.

" I don't want to watch princesses Kaylee. I'm tired of watching princesses." Luke says.

" Then say what you want to watch. We don't have to watch a princess movie." I say.

" Can we watch Monsters University?" Luke asks.

" No! That movie scary!" Kaylee exclaims.

" Kaylee, you can cuddle with me if you get scared. Lets let Luke watch his movie." I say.

" Okay." Kaylee says looking down at her feet. I look at Luke.

" Grab the movie and put it in." I say. Luke nods his head. He stands up and walks to the movie cabinet. Kaylee stands up and comes to me. She crawls onto the couch and cuddles into my side.
