Chapter Twenty One: dangerous memories

"Brother! Where are you?!" Natsu shouts.

He was lost at the capital of Fiore. He was scared. He entangles his fingers together nervously and wanders around the city some more.

After about two hours, he sits down for a small break. His small legs were hurting.

"Where are you....? I'm scared..." The little boy starts to cry.

After a little while, he hears a voice calling his name. He knew it. He stood up fast and ran to that sound. His favorite sound.

"Natsu!" The brother held out his arms and embraced Natsu, "I was so worried about you!"

"Zeref....!" The boy was sobbing as he held tightly.

Natsu woke up with a start, "what the hell?" He scratches his head, dazed.

"You alright?" Zeref asks him.

"Did I wake you?"

"Yeah. Did you have a bad dream?"

No, just odd. You were in it but, we were both little. It was like a memory..."

'Oh no....' Zeref thinks to himself. He knew what that could mean.

Lucy wraps her arms around Natsu at the hotel. "Hey, morning sleepyhead." She kisses him on the cheek.

"Hey Zeref.... Where's mom and dad?"

"They won't be coming back..." His brother said emotionlessly.

"What do you mean?"

Zeref said nothing.

"Brother! Stop making breakfast! That's moms job." Natsu yells trying to grab the food away from Zeref.

"No. Stop Natsu. I'm making breakfast this morning okay?"

"But why?" He pouts.

"Because she's gone."

"She's not gone. She'll be here shortly to make breakfast for us. I want pancakes!"

Zeref is shaking. Trying to control himself. He had to be strong for his brother.

"I can make you pancakes."

"No! I want mommy! I don't want your pancakes!"

Zeref loses it. His little brother sees wet spots on his hands that fell from his eyes.

"Natsu.... Mom is never coming back so is dad...." He starts sobbing.

Natsu had nothing to say. He still didn't fully understand but, seeing his brother hurt made him hurt so they cried together.

"Natsu wake up!" It was Lucy's voice.

"Huh... What?" Natsu felt groggy.

"Jeez. They magic games is about to start. Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, just sleepy is all." Natsu get up, "well I better join the group and head over there."

"Natsu..."

"What?"

She pointed at him, "your arm. The mark...."

Natsu looked at it. It was still bandaged but, the mark grew more up his arm. The new part was exposed, "what the?!" He starts panicking.

Then Lucy does the same.
