Chapter Twenty Five: five hundred monsters

Grey left to find Natsu. He needed to talk to him. Convince him to have Zeref gone but, gramps found him first.

They were talking and he could hear Natsu crying. Grey gets a little closer.

"I don't want to be a demon," he hears Natsu say.

'A demon....?' Grey starts to think about the information they found out about E.N.D. That the demon was Zeref's brother. Then it hit him. Everything made sense then. His stomach dropped and he wanted to cry out. His friend. The one he's getting into fights with. The one who did everything to protect his friends. He was the enemy the whole time. His heart hurt. He was supposed to kill the demon. 'Did my dad know?' Grey decided to run as fast as he could. He didn't know where he was going.

'Zeref... It's his fault. It's all his fault. All my pain. Natsu crying because of what he is. He caused so many people to suffer and he's standing there living. He doesn't belong in the guild.'

Grey returns to the hotel when everyone is in bed. He lays down on his bed and let's his tears fall.

'What do I do if E.N.D is awakened? Do I kill my friend?' It hurt too much to think about that. He needed to get Zeref away from Natsu. It was the only way.

"You don't look like you got much sleep," Gajeel tells Grey.

"Yeah I didn't."

"What's wrong? I mean, I don't really care but...."

Grey just gets up and sits somewhere else away from him. Secluded.

"Hey, grey! Erza wants us to leave for the stadium now." It was Natsu.

Grey stared at him for a long moment, 'how can you be E.N.D?' He thinks to himself, "alright. I'm ready."

"The game today is..." A huge castle in the sky shows up above the stadium, "Erza probably remembers this when she killed one hundred monsters by herself. Except now there's five hundred! Except instead of only one person from each team doing it, it's two!" Pumpkin says, "it's the same rules as last."

Zeref and Erza teamed up to do the game.

"How may monsters will fairytail take?"

"All of them." They both tell him.

"All of them? Well, alright.... Go ahead." He stutters.

The two walk in side by side, ready to fight.

"Are you going to use your scythe?" Erza asks him.

"Actually I'm not. Just my magic for this."

"Got it."

"I'll use my immobilization magic to freeze some of them in time then it'll be your turn to kill them."

"What about the other magic?"

Zeref doesn't say anything.

The monsters start to show up. Zeref uses his magic to freeze them making it easy for Erza to do her job. Then the black Mage uses Death Orb and throws them at the creatures, taking them out with ease.

"Only four hundred left now," Erza says.

Erza was getting tired and Zeref noticed.

"Be my backup for awhile. I'll take out some." He instructs her.

He throws more death orbs. They were getting stronger but, we no match for him. He then moved his hands parallel to each other with his pointer and middle up. A pillar forms and takes out two hundred of the monsters with one hit.

Erza stared in disbelief, 'how can someone be so strong?' She wonders, "I'll take on some now!" She was fast as she skated the monsters.

When stood breathing hard after killing so many. 'Still 152 more to go....' She thinks exhausted.

Then Zeref sits down on the floor cross legged and closes his eyes. It was only for a few seconds till his eyes shot open. They were red with fury. "Get away from here, Erza."

She nods and leaves. She hears the magic. That black cloud that causes death all around him. His curse. The monsters scream. Then it's quiet. It was over.

Zeref comes walking to her.

"All of them dead?" She asks.

"Yes," he smiles.

They walk out of the castle together. They link hands and throw them up in the air in victory. She looked at Zeref. He wasn't exhausted at all. She wondered then if he ever does get tired from using magic. She still had enough energy to heal for a couple hours and do a battle today but, that was thanks to Zeref.

An announcer is yelling, "I just can't believe it! They killed five hundred monsters together! Fairytail is killing it this year!"

"That new wizard is unbelievable! He used such powerful magic and didn't break a sweat." Another one said.

"Natsu and Kazuya seem like the ultimate Wizards! They could probably take out all the Wizards saints together."

"You got that right."

"Good job, Zeref." Erza tell him. She smiled at him warmly. Like family.

"You too. Your pretty strong."

"Not like you though."

"I've been around for four hundred years though." He softly laughs.

"You wanted to meet," it was Jellal.

"Yeah, I need your help with something." Grey says.
