Chapter Six: his fate

"Natsu....?" Lucy was half awake when she heard him come through her window.

"Hey... I'm really tired...." He lands on her bed next to her.

"I'm glad you're okay. I was really worried about you."

They were facing each other and could feel their light breaths against one another.

"I heard you were at the library with Levi most of the day."

"Mhm...."

"Reading about Zeref."

"Mhm." He yawned showing his pointed teeth.

Lucy smiles. He was cute when he was trying to sleep. She wanted to make it last longer so she kept talking to him. "What did you find?"

Natsu opened his eyes and she could see pain in them. He grabbed his arm.

"Do it hurt?" She went to touch it but, he flinched away. "I'm sorry..." She said.

"It's okay and yeah, it does hurt."

"Do you mind if I ask what it is?"

He yawned again, "it's.... It's a mark..."

"Like from a fight?"

"No, it just sort of appeared while I was training. I don't know where it came from or what it is." He was starting to mumble now.

"I wonder if it's a dragon slayer thing..."

She had no response. She looked at him and he was fast asleep.

"Goodnight Natsu." Lucy said as she drifted to sleep.

Lucy wakes up earlier than Natsu. It's eleven in the morning. 'Wow I slept in really late.'

Natsu was still fast asleep, snoring softly. Lucy looks at the bandaged arm then looks at him. She gently touches it, pulling at the end of it to unravel it slightly. Everyone at the guild was wondering what was up with his arm and he never answer. He always changed the subject.

His skin was hot underneath it. She started to see something black, like a tattoo. She exposed more and saw that the little part of it she could see was shaped like fire. She touched the mark. Lucy yelped when her finger brushed it. It was burning hot. Natsu stirred a little bit but, passed back out again.

'No wonder it was hurting him...' She thought to herself. 'What does his mark mean?' She was afraid to peel more off so she puts it back together like it was.

Then happy flew in fast through the window, making Lucy jump out of her skin.

"Happy! You scared the hell out of me!"

Happy covers his mouth with his paws and tries to he back his laughing.

Natsu wakes up, Rubbing his eyes. "Hey, buddy. Good morning." He looked at Lucy, "good morning Lucy. Can you make us some food?"

"What?! I'm not some restaurant! You guys are too expensive to feed! Besides I don't have anything left since the last time you were here!"

"You can take us out to eat then?"

"Can we go to a sea food restaurant?" Happy said excited.

"No! I'm not taking anyone out to eat!"

"Come on...." Natsu pouted.

"I don't have a money. I would've if we got paid for that job but it didn't work out...." Lucy said sadly. Lucy felt horrible about those innocent people losing their lives. "Let's just go to the guild and Mira can feed us."
