Chapter Thirty: fire and ice

Natsu starts to leave the guild after Ajeel left with his tail between his legs.

"Natsu! Where are you going?" Lucy ran up to him and asked.

"I'm going to find Grey."

"What for?"

"Because we have a war to win. I got a plan to defeat them. It'll be the first battle."

"Let me come with you then."

He turns to look at her, "Lucy, I can't do that. I don't want you in danger."

"I'll be fine. We always make it."

"This is different. We aren't fighting to just beat them around a bit. This is a fight to the death."

"I don't care. You need protection..."

"I'll be fine."

"What did he mean cursed magic? That what demons use. How can you use it then?"

"I don't know," he lied. He didn't want to tell her, "but, I need to go. I'm sorry I can't bring you Luce. I love you and I'll make it back I promise."

"I love you too..." She says as she watches him leave.

Grey was sitting at the bar. He didn't know where to go exactly after he been banned. He didn't regret what he did though. He just hoped Zeref actually died.

"Hey, ice princess." He knew that voice.

"Hey, flame brain. What brings you here?"

"I got a job for us to do."

"I'm not part of the guild anymore remember?"

"This job doesn't care about that."

"What does gramps have to say about that?"

Natsu was quiet for a minute, "you haven't heard..."

"What happened?"

"Zeref.... He killed... He killed him..."

Grey sat there then tears started to surface, "that.... That monster... That ugly demon! Where is he?!"

"He left afterwards. He now at the Alvarez Empire. He rules it. It's a giant city full of military mages to fight against us."

"So what is the job?"

"We go and take most of them down."

The ice and fire Wizards arrive at the city. Happy comes along to carry them off back to the boat when things get bad.

"Are you using your cursed magic?" Grey asks the fire Mage.

"Yes. Probably. I need to get his attention."

"I don't know exactly how I feel about this but, it is a good plan. It might save the world."

"It will save it." Natsu corrects him.

They were wearing white hoods to hide their faces for the time being. The city was huge. So much magic everywhere. Way more than Fiore. Everyone was a wizard. There was little kids out in the streets practicing. Family practicing together. There was a magic training school and camp. It was nothing like they've ever seen before.

Zeref could since them. The fire and ice wizard. "Natsu..." He says smiling.

He sends some of his Spriggan twelve out there to fight. Ajeel was healed and ready to destroy them but, that wasn't Zeref's true plan. This was war and people were going to die.
