Chapter Thirty Eight: home sweet home

The door of the edolas machine opened its doors and everyone stared out at the earth land now. They landed in mognolia except there was no buildings other than one. The guild hall. It was beaten up and burnt but, it still stood.

Everyone walked inside. It was empty.

"It looks like there's going to be a lot of rebuilding..." Natsu says.

After that everyone unloaded wood and supplies from their transport here and started building. They worked on it all day then it was night time and everyone stopped to take a break.

There was no tables anymore so everyone was forced to sit on the ground. The edolas fairytail guild brought food and alcohol for them all.

Then Mavis stood up. Zeref looked at her confused, "I have an announcement!" She yelled.

Everyone turned to look at her.

She holds up the mysterious piece of paper, "this is the sixth master Makarov's will. He has shared in this paper the next new master of fairytail."

Everyone cheered then listened intently.

"He didn't get a chance to tell all of you before and after everything I dont think  he'd change his mind but, the new master is Zeref Dragneel." She looks over at the black wizard and smiles.

He sits there completely shocked. Everyone was surprised.

"Mavis... No way he made me master," Zeref took the paper out of her hands and read it.

It said, "Zeref... I knew when she announced that you're the new master you would question it so I wrote you this. I decided for you to be master because your smart and you care about people so much even though you say you don't. I've watched you grow from the first day you joined the guild. You learned to smile and have fun. You learned family and to fight for them and protect them. You tried to use your powers in a different way at the games to make them proud of you and because it would mean a lot to them. You have everything to be a good master. I don't care about your past, what matters is what you do now. Zeref.... You're not alone anymore. Fairytail is your family and they'll always stick by your side. They'll protect you from your curse. Everyone is here for you. I will be too in your heart. I'll take care of you. You're one of my children. I learned to care about you and love you even after everything. Take care of Natsu for me. He looks up to you. Take care of your family. I know you will. Good luck my child."

Zeref sat there staring at the paper dumbfounded. Then he started crying as he looked at his family. Then he spots Grey. He had no fairytail mark anymore. The ice wizard just stared at his hands looking lost.

"So what's your first command as master?" Mavis asks laughing.

Zeref stands up, "grey..."

The wizard looks up at the new master.

"Stand up and walk towards me."

Grey does so.

"I was wondering if you want to be a part of the family again. I know you don't like me or trust me but, I would really like it if you were part of the family again."

"What....? I..." Then he started tearing up, "why would you want me? After what I did..."

"That doesn't matter anymore. I'm over it besides you belong here."

Grey nods and Zeref puts a new fairytail mark on the ice wizard in the same spot.

"Thank you...." Grey tells him.

"Thank you Grey."

Everyone in the guild cheers and lifts the black wizard off the ground and carries him throughout the guild hall.

Zeref finally found a home. He found a family. He looks at Mavis who was blushing at him, and he found love. He looks at his little brothers smiling big with his pointed teeth, he found his brother too. His life was filled with happiness now and he never wanted to be without it again.
