(some weeks later)
Ellie was on the sofa reading that old copy of Dune, when she started hearing singing again. It was so soft, it was almost as if it was drifting in and out of her range of hearing. She had gotten used to the whispers, the phantom songs, and the hums that she had heard around the house. Actually she had gotten so used to it, that she found comfort in them. It eased the feeling of loneliness in her.
Frank of course would come over and keep her company from time to time, or they would go out and have a little fun, but he had a family, and could not spend all his time keeping her company. It wasn't fair to keep him as much as she had, and she had started feeling guilty over it. Of course Jamia, and Frank would invite her over so she could feel like part of the family, but that really only made her feel more lonely when she came back to the 'empty' house.
But now... It was starting to not feel so empty. She was pretty sure that the whispers had increased, and every now and then, she thought she felt something touch her. It did not feel like a person, but more like a tingly energy running through her flesh. It really doesn't sound that pleasant, but she had gotten to where she would crave any kind of sensation. She just wished she could figure out what, or who was touching, and talking to her.
Of course, she also knew this could totally be her imagination brought on by isolation, and stress. But she hoped it wasn't. 'How pathetic am I to need a friend so badly, that I want the house to be haunted?' she had asked herself so many times now.
Of course, most people would think to go out, and actually find a friend, but Ellie felt she may as well try to walk to the moon. She could not trust people yet, and she was petrified to actually go anywhere where she would have to socialize.... and heaven forbid someone actually ask her questions about herself! Ellie shivered at the thought.... No, she is much better right here in this possibly haunted house.
She shook her head of these thoughts, and tried to focus on the singing. It was still fading in and out, but she was pretty sure she recognized the song. And... she was very sure she recognized the voice.
"Heaven help us now
Come crashing down
We'll hear the sound
As you're falling down"
Ellie got up from the sofa, placing her book to the side, and started to follow the sound. She walked down the short hallway, towards the office.
"I'm at this old hotel
But can't tell if I've been breathing or sleeping
Or screaming or waiting for the man to call
And maybe..all
of
the
above
Cause mostly I've been sprawled on these cathedral steps
While spitting out the blood and screaming
'Someone save us!'."
The sound grew steady. She could actually hear it quite well now. Every word was so clear. That voice, she definitely knew that voice. Ellie's heart rate picked up, her breathing increased. She was standing out side the office of Gerard Way... the office he died in, and she was hearing one of his songs coming from the other side of the door.
