"What are we doing here?" Ashton strolled behind Luke.
"I have to meet someone."
"And you couldn't leave me at your house?"
"Now that you're getting stronger, No," Luke glanced back to look at him.
They walked in the street and Luke used his energy to shield Ashton's one, because if he could have sensed the boy and realize he's not human at first, anyone could. Ashton kept looking around him, feeling something bad in his guts. He didn't want to be exposed like that because he was scared someone will realize what he is and might try to feed from him or worse, torture him, he tried not looking suspicious but the glances he took were pretty suspicious.
Luke figured no one will suspect because he shielded his energy and Ashton was warm so otheres will probably think he was a werewolf.
He didn't notice Luke stopped walking because he kept staring at others and then he bumped into Luke's back.
"Would you calm down?"
"Easy for you to say."
"Were here." Luke motioned with his hand into a blue door that looked like an entrace of a store. Ashton walked in after Luke and the horrible smell filled his nose right away, it was a mix of dust and stench, he put his arm on his nose and looked at Luke "What's that smell?"
"He's not really into cleaning."
"Oh," Ashton looked around the place and everything looked so fitting with the smell, old wooden desk and a red ripped up carpet in the middle of the room.
"Brandon." Luke called and moments later a guy stepped from the back door into the store.
"Luke, how are you doing?" The guy smiled.
"Good and you?" Luke walked closer to him and they both shoke hands.
"And who's your friend?" Brandon's eyes darted to Ashton.
"This is Ashton."
"I came to take that book I asked." Luke spoke again.
"Oh right," Brandon made his way to the huge wooden desk and then shoved some books aside, looking for the book Luke needed, "Why do you need a book about immortals?"
"Curiosity."
"They're not exist anymore, there's no point."
"I'm surprised hearing it from you." Luke chuckled.
"Things changed."
"I see,"
Brandon took the big red book and handed it to Luke, his eyes darting to Ashton and a light frown between his eyebrows.
"Are you a werewolf?" Brandon stared at Ashton, making him tense even more.
"Yeah he is." Luke replied and then started walking toward the door,
"Thanks for the book." He called befor opening the door and motioning Ashton to step outside first.
****
Both boys were sitting in Luke's dining room and reading the book that was laying open infront of their eyes. Luke was just catching up but to Ashton it was all new and he didn't think anything from what was written there, is real.
"There's no way I'm capable to those things." Ashton muttered.
"Now you're not, you have to get stronger."
"Immortals can die?"
"Its very hard killing them but yes,"
"So how did they extinct?"
"The crave for blood is something very strong Ashton, and if they're blood tasted like yours, then it makes sense."
"So vampire killed them all?"
"Yes."
"And one day you will kill me."
"I don't know about that. Your blood is just too.. irresistible."
"I won't let you feed from me and keep me alive as much as you want."
"Oh really?" Luke raised an eyebrow.
"I'll get stronger then you and I will leave. I'll go kill myself or something."
"Why are you so desperate to die? If you'de ever leave then go get your own place or something."
"I can't live with all of those creatures, and I can't live.. immortality, not like this."
"When your family is dead?"
"Yes." Ashton swallowed the lump in his throat.
"I still don't think its a reason to kill yourself."
"That's because you don't know what family is."
"Right," Luke rolled his eyes.
"I'm tired." Ashton stood up.
"Sleeping a lot doesn't do good to your powers."
"I don't care." Ashton muttered as he climbed upstairs to the room he slept in this morning and craweled on the bed tiredly.
Luke stoop up as well and walked outside to the snowing weather, waiting for Ashton to fall asleep so he could leave the house.
