Riley's P.O.V
I wait by my locker for Lucas. I stare at my phone screen, not understanding anything. Maya's snapchat she sent me says a cryptic message. In love. Wtf? This isn't her usual message. Usually her message would be something like Wish I was in da club. Now she's in love? It sounds like an easy message, but it isn't. Who's she in love with? I put my phone away as soon as I see Lucas walk up to me. "Lucas." I pull his collar towards me and kiss him, but only for a couple seconds because that's when Maya comes. "Sorry to interrupt you two love birds, but your dad is coming. Like now." When she means now, she means now. My dad comes to us and sternly looks at me. "Riley, nothing happened between you and Lucas, correct?" I look down and try to hide my guilty face. Lucas and I had sex last week for the first time, and it felt so good. So natural, romantic. "Riley, you're not hiding anything from me? You better not have had sex young lady! I want you to stay pure! Forever!" I look at my dad's face and say, "God, Dad stop worrying about me. We're in school, remember? There's a class for this." I open my locker and shove my history textbook inside. I hear my dad sigh and walk away. Maya stifles a giggle. "Goddamn, Riley you should be glad you have an overprotective dad. I don't even have a dad." I look at her sad smile and take her hand. She has a dad obviously, but he left when she was five. What a bitch. "Peaches, you have me, don't worry." I smile at here and she rests her head on my shoulder. "You sent me a snapchat and said you were in love, who is it?" She has a nervous giggle, and for the first time I get worried. "Maya, you're hiding something, aren't you.." She looks down and says," I like Farkle!" Relief washes over me as we laugh together. "I'll tell him!" Her smile suddenly fades. "Uh, Riles, you can't," Maya says, and then she looks like she realizes something and says " I'll tell him." She puts on a smile that I know for sure is fake. "Gotta go tell Farkle before class starts!" Maya walks away and I can see worry replace her phony smile.
