Giving Him a Chance

     Maya's P.O.V.                                                " Oh, come on Maya, you've got to have at least one thing you like about Lucas." my best friend Riley Matthews said.
Ever since we started seventh grade and we met Lucas, or as I call him, Huckleberry, I always said there was nothing I liked about him. I always felt a need to tease him, especially when him and Riley started dating.  There wasn't a way to describe it. But I did know that there was no way in this whole world that I'd ever fall in love with him. Never.
" Uh, Maya, you're in your own little bubble right now, hello?" Riles waved her hand in front of my face, always doing the trick. I blinked, and quickly smiled. " Sorry Riles, I was just thinking." I murmured to her. " Thinking? Thinking about what? Not doing your homework and making fun of Lucas?" " Riley, I don't make fun of your boyfriend,  it's something called teasing!" I shut my locker and looked at her with a face that said. You know I'm right. And she looked at me with disbelief. " All I'm saying is that you should give him a chance." she scurried to her classroom as I thought about what she said. Maybe I should give him a chance.  Or not. But it was too late because as soon as I was back on earth the person I least wanted to see stood in front of me.                                              "Hey, Maya. I was late today so can you tell Ril-" " Look, Ranger Rick, I got much more important things to do than be seen here talking to-" he took my hand and helped me back up. How the heck did I fall down while talking? I was supposed to be the tough girl. " You okay? You seem like you need to go  to the nurse," he helped me gather my stuff and continued, " I could take you?" Now it was my turn to stare in disbelief.  What would Riley think? " Uh, you know what? I'm just fine." I took the rest of my stuff from him and quickly walked away. Far away from him. Because, I knew at that moment, that I liked my best friend's boyfriend.
