I pull my phone out quickly and dial Riley. She probably won't answer but what the hell. On the first ring she picks up. "Maya I know I was mean and everything but nothing could break us up, I mean we've been best friends for forever and nothing could change that, like nothing. Farkle even joked that we could have gotten together if we weren't friends, but we all know that'd be so weird and-" she chatters on but I don't listen. We would have been great together as like, a couple. What the hell Maya? I like Lucas, I reassure myself, but then think that Riley would be probably better than Lucas. Fuck, stop Maya. I can't help but think about it. I mean, if anyone had a best friend like Riley they would also obviously think like me. Right? Or am I just weird as hell? This is just a normal teenage phase right? I'm just so stupid. "Maya? Are you listening? I've been asking you this question for like ever!" I quickly snap back into reality and say "Uh sorry I was just, uh, contemplating how life would be without you! Love you Riles!" I hear her giggle and say "Okay well you wanna sleepover?" Hell YESS. "Are you that fucked in the head that you think I'd reject? Hell yes I'll sleepover!" I say that all in a serious voice. She giggles and says "Right, I'll see ya later then Peaches." I say goodbye to her and check myself out in the mirror. Riley would like- oh my god. I do not like Riley. I like Lucas. And maybe Farkle. Riley then texts me:
Riley: LUCAS IS COMING
Maya: um, yay?
Riley: you like him remember?
Maya: actually we need to talk
Riley: you want me to have him?
Maya: yeah sure
Riley: thanks omg I can have him now
I shut my phone down and sigh. Of course she liked him. Do I like Riley and Lucas. Life is fucked up. All girls wanna do is have fun, right? Like that song, from somewhere? I pack all my stuff I need and while I'm grabbing my phone charger I hear my bedroom door open. I turn to the door and see Lucas standing there looking all sexy. Like a fucking sex god. His navy blue shirt is untucked and he's wearing slightly ripped jeans. He has black shoes that shine and look weird. He's still hot. I suddenly stop breathing. "Maya we need to talk." I try to catch my breath as he walks about a foot away from me. He steps so close then that I can smell his pepper mint scented breath. I can feel him breathing on me. "I know you want this. The sleepover will be fun." I look at him with a strange look in my eyes and ask him " Uh, you're sleeping over?" He shakes his head "Naw, just coming before you sleep actually." I then have the impulse to do something. I close the gap between us by crashing our lips to each other. We go deeper in the kiss and I know that what I meant sure as hell is true: Girls just wanna have fun.
