Truth: You like Me?

Riley's P.O.V
"Who wants to go first?" I chirp. Maya looks sick. "You need any meds? You look sick." I point out to her. She shakes her head and I hear her groan a little bit. "I'm okay, just I uh, am failing school so bad and might be held back when you guys are in the next grade, and I uh, don't wanna be held back, you know?" Maya never worried about school? This is weird. Lucas raises his hand to go first. Farkle decided to ask him his question. "Do you like girls and only girls?" Maya makes a choking sound after Farkle asks that. Lucas looks surprised as he says "Of course! I mean, isn't it obvious?" I then quickly say "I'm asking Maya a question now!" Maya makes the same choking sound and says "I uh think I'm gonna go home, I don't feel so good." Lucas tugs on Maya's shirt while she's walking away and says "Come on, stay for just this question! Please?" She looks annoyed as she says "Fine." She plops herself back down on the rug and says "Go." I take a deep breath and get ready for my reaction. "Do you like both sexes? You know what I mean? Like a bicycle?" Maya picks at her cuticles and says "Um no I'm like a ruler." She grabs her sleepover bag and climbs out of the window and scurries away. "She can't leave." I say as I follow her out the window. "Maya! Don't walk out on my life like this!" She glares at me and rolls her eyes. "Don't be so melodramatic." "Maya! I know you're hiding something from me! I mean to ask if you liked me!" Her face whitens and she says "Riley just drop it. You don't need to know every single thing about my effing life okay?" I feel sick just looking at the cold look on her face. She turns around and storms away. "Maya wait!" "Shut the fuck up!" She screams as she jumps down the stairs and calls a taxi. I feel the tears pour down my cheeks as I get back into my room. Lucas holds me close and says "Riley what's wrong?" Farkle sits there and looks at me with a concerned look on his face. "Nothing, just leave." I say through the tears. They leave without me having to say anything. I throw myself onto my bed and cry into my pillow. I ruined everything between Maya and I. Now she hates me. I was just asking. Aren't best friends supposed to tell each other everything? I sit there sobbing and remember my mom is in the hospital. I shed even more tears after realizing that. I grab my phone and realize I can't call anyone right now really because Maya obviously hates me and Lucas probably does also and Farkle is probably the same. I cry myself to sleep quietly.
