Morgan
She wakes up warm and the most comfortable she's been in a long time. She's back in the place she belongs. In his arms and it feels so good.
It's going to take more than a ring and a plea for things to be okay.
She purses her lips a bit and pushes the thought to the back of her mind. She's really comfortable cuddling into his chest and smelling his cologne. He's sleep at the moment and she just sort of watches him and admires.
She can tell he's starting to wake up because the hand that's tucked under the back of her t shirt moves.
Though she wouldn't mind staying in place any other day; she's eager to explore. Portland is some undiscovered territory that she needs to see for herself. After all, they are only here for just another day and a half.
So she pinches his side.
He groans; the hand that's under her t-shirt in the back goes to place itself on the small of her back. His palm is a bit hot and it makes her shudder slightly. He rubs back and forth for a moment before grumbling out a few words. She leans up and kisses under his chin; feeling his soft facial hair against her lips before pulling away.
"Go back to sleep."
"I want to explore."
"Go explore a toothbrush, your breath stinks." Her mouth dropped open before she giggled.
"Oh you've got jokes now? You're breath isn't being too kind on my nostrils right now either." He laughed; his eyes still closed.
"Take me out."
"Bossy."
"It's still my birthday weekend isn't it?" Her pursed his lips before groaning.
"You're really mean for doing that."
"Get uuuuuuupppppp." She shook him and he turned on his back before grumbling a bit.
"I'm up." He rubbed over his eyes before sitting up. She noticed he winced a bit and rolled his arm a little.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, just a little sore. I'm fine."
He got up and moved into the bathroom; her watching the view of him in his underwear. She hadn't seen that in a long time and she was enjoying it immensely.
Last night was a step forward. A step they needed so they could get their priorities straight. But even after they got to the hotel; all they did was lay together. Nothing happened and she was a bit grateful because she didn't think it was time yet. For her or for them.
She broke from her thoughts and grabbed her suitcase: getting her toothbrush out and going to the bathroom. He was in the shower while she brushed her teeth before they changed places. Which was what they would do if they were home together.
After they got dressed he took her out to breakfast at some restaurant called "Off The Path." Where it should have been a rule against how much food they ate.
Afterwards they sort of just walked around. Portland was a beautiful city and it felt like she would never get enough.
"When did you know for sure you wanted to play football?" She spoke up as they sat on a bench close to one of the signature waterfalls. It was kinda cold so she wrapped her jacket around her a little more.
"When I was about eight. You know I started out in baseball but it was something about football. It was like unknown territory. I use to watch it on TV and wish it was me."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. I think people were a little disappointed when I turned down that baseball scholarship though. I don't think anyone understood."
"Your parents did...and look at you now."
"I don't know...football feels like jail right now."
"It wouldn't be a career if it didn't feel like that every once in a while." He smirked. "You're going to do great this game. I feel it in my bones."
"Well I guess if you feel it in your bones." He rolled his eyes and she nudged him.
"Want me to get you a crystal?"
"A crystal?"
"Yeah, like the healing crystals. Like amethyst and stuff. I've been reading and..."
"When don't you read?"
"You're one for the jokes today, huh?"
"I'm about the jokes all the time."
"Whatever. When I first met you; you were corny."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, you were one for the pickup lines right? Making me laugh. What was it you said?"
"You know so much about it, tell me."
"Okay it was like: you're a designer? I would have thought you were a model. Come on dude..."
"If it was so bad why did you agree to go on a second date with me? Huh?"
"You were so cute, I couldn't help but to pity you."
"Well you're too short for you're own good."
"No one told you to be so tall that you bump your head on the clouds."
"Aw, you're mean." She laughed and moved to sit on his lap. He wrapped his arms around her waist.
"You still married me."
"My fault." She nudged him and he laughed.
"I missed you." She admitted and she felt him kiss the back of her neck.
"I missed you too."
*********
-a week later-She had just gotten in bed when she heard the door creak open. Knox peeked his head into the room.
"What going on bub?"
"I can't sleep." He closed the door and ran further in; getting up on the bed next to her.
"Why can't you sleep?"
"I don't know." She cuddled him into her side and kissed his head.
They sat in silence for a moment before he spoke up again.
"Are we staying here with daddy?"
"Yes. You know daddy is here."
"Yeah but are we staying here with him? Are we staying home or going to the other house again?" She sighed and brushed his hair from his face.
"We're not going to the other house. We're home."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
