"I don't even know what it was...it just came out of nowhere."

"I know. Calm down, everything is going to be okay."

"How is everything going to be okay? Someone delivered a video of them killing someone to our house Colin!"

She had gathered Knox and Darlene and brought them to their bedroom. She needed them in sight to make herself feel better. She didn't really know the way to Colin's mom's house that well and she didn't want to impose on Sammie. She was terrified.

"I hear you babe, I do. You called the police right?".

"Yes."

"Did they say when they would be there?"

"No one was near so it's going to take them at least thirty minutes to get here."

"Okay just stay in the room until they get there. You have the kids with you right?"

"Of course."

"Good. I'm going to catch the next flight out tonight after therapy and I'll be there tomorrow morning."

"Why would someone send something like that to us?" She asked quietly; trying to come down from her terror filled high and get back to calm grounds.

"I don't know. We'll figure it out. Stay calm."

"Stop saying that. I don't want to be calm, I want to know what's going on."

"I'll be there soon, I promise. Look out for the police and tell them everything okay?"

"Okay." She sighed heavily. After they hung up it felt like she waited forever for the police to come. It could have just been a few minutes but she was in no condition to do so when she was so anxious. The words from the note played through her mind over and over again.

"You can't run from the shadow but you can invite it to dance."

What if there's more to the video? What if you're missing something?

She stares at the door for a few minutes to contemplate.

She has to go watch the whole video.

So she slowly moves out of the room and toward the steps. One by one she sort of fights with herself on the idea but something just keeps nudging at her to go. After realizing the video was real she had jumped out of her seat, screamed and ran. She had run all the way upstairs and grabbed each kid before locking all of them in the bedroom.

And now her curiosity was making her go back.

She made it to the front foyer and paused to take a breath and gather her nerves.

"Quit being a punk." She spoke out loud to herself and stood up a little straighter.

She starts to walk again. She hadn't noticed how menacing a walk through her house might seem until now. So much so that her steps are more or so just little scared shuffles of feet.

And just when she finally tells herself that she's okay...

The door bell rings.

And she almost passes out.

She jumps out of her skin a little and gulps as she stares toward the way she just came. She's a little quicker to get to the door this time and she takes a deep breath as she puts her ear to it.

"San Francisco police department, open up." She sort of squeezes her eyes shut as she opens the door. When she peeks it's actually two officers standing there.

"Oh thank God." She huffs out.

"We received a call from this address?"

"Yes. Um, well I've received a video that appears to have someone being killed on it." They stare for a moment.

"Could you repeat that?" Officer big hands asks as he puts his hands on his waist.

"Yes. I was delivered a video that has someone being killed on it. It's too real to be a movie or a game."

"May we come in?"

"Sure." She stepped out of the way so they could come in and close the door.

"And where is this video?"

"The theater room...I'll show you. Right this way..."

"Mommy?" Their eyes went up to Knox sitting up at the top of the stairs.

"Hey honey, I'll be up there soon just go watch TV in my room okay?" He stared for a minute longer in curiosity before nodding and moving out of sight.

She walked slowly to the room with the sound of the officers boots the only thing driving her forward. The video had long since ended and everything was still in place from where she last found it.

"And when did this package arrive?"

"Around eleven I think..."

"In this box?" He pointed and she nodded. Officer big hands picks it up and examined it; eyes dancing over the words before he handed them to Officer short stop.

Officer B.H. picks up the remote and goes to press play.

"Ma'am why don't you go check on your children?"

"I think I'll stay..." both officers stare at each other for a moment before nodding.

The video started again. The same man, the same cries, the same dark figure, the same knife. It felt as though everything was more vivid this time; the blood more red and the screams louder.

She couldn't distinguish if the dark figure was man or woman; but they were rather tall.

After the killing was done; yhe killer took their time finishing up just for the cause. Then they turned to the camera and stared for a moment.

"See you soon."

Then the video cuts off.

"Ma'am do you know who sent this video?"

"No, I don't."

"Can you walk me through what happened when it was delivered?"

"I was upstairs in my office when I heard the doorbell ring and then when I came down here no one was there. The package was sitting in the middle of the porch."

"Is there anyone you think might be coming after you, miss? Bad friendships...boyfriend? Anything?"

"No...not that I know of. This is all just really scary..."

"We understand. Listen, we'll take this out and to the station to get our detectives to look after it. We'll call you if we figure anything out. Other than your son, are you alone?"

"My daughter is up there as well. My husband is in Colorado, he's catching a flight here soon."

"Alright, one of us will go and put the disk back and one while sit outside to make sure no one comes back. I assure you, you are safe."
