Morgan

-a few weeks later-

She grumbled as she heard her phone ring. It was too loud and entirely too early. She blindly reached for it before opening her eyes and blinking at the screen.

"What the hell Sammie?" She whined.

"Happy birthday!" She shouted into the phone.

"Thank you."

"How do you feel?"

"Sleepy because you woke me up so early."

"Early? It's almost ten. You're seriously still in bed?" She shot up and hurried out of bed. She overslept.

"Oh my god! The kids are probably starving. What the hell?" She hurried out of her room and down the hall a bit to theirs; opening the door. But they weren't there.

And now was her time to lose her shit.

"Sammie the kids aren't here!"

"What? What are you talking about?"

"The kids...they're not here. They're gone!" She hurried out into the kitchen and to the living room but they weren't there either. "My babies are missing! I need to-"

She stopped in her tracks when she saw a note propped up next to the sugar.

Good morning,

Happy birthday. I took the kids with me for the day. You deserve some time off for yourself. Choose whatever you want to wear from your presents and a car will come to pick you up at 11.

-Colin

"You still there?"

"Yeah...it's um, it's a false alarm. Colin has them..."

"You forgot?"

"No. He took them while I was sleeping. I don't know how that makes me feel considering I slept through it."

"Everyone knows you could sleep through a world War if you wanted to."

"Shut up." She moved into the living room and practically dies at what she sees.

There are several bouquets of flowers behind at least a dozen gift boxes. The boxes have numerous names on them and they're all neatly placed by the couch.

"He bought me stuff..." she murmured as she sat cross legged on the floor.

"Colin did?"

"Yes. There's a lot of stuff..."

"Looks like someone is trying to say sorry."

"He's being generous."

"He's being good...he is still your husband. He still cares; whether he did something stupid or not. You still love him don't you?"

"Of course I do...it's just been a bit hard lately."

"If loving wasn't hard, everyone would walk around in love all the time. Open your gifts and think about it. Love you boo."

"Love you too." She hung up; biting her lip and sighing.

He had gotten her almost anything a woman could ever want. More flowers, clothes, a few pairs of shoes, some of the new books she's been raving about lately and some jewelry. How he managed to know about the books was beyond her but it was the last thing on her mind. She wanted to know what he was up to.
